The Church of St. Sava in Belgrade is one of the most impressive sights in Serbia. This Orthodox church impresses with its grandeur and scale, being one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
**History and architecture:**
The temple was founded in 1894 and has been under construction for many years, undergoing various historical events. Its construction was completed in 2021 thanks to the financing of the Russian company Gazprom Neft.
It was decided to cover the vaults and walls of the temple with mosaics, the total area of the mosaic is 15 thousand square meters. However, there were no masters with the necessary experience in Serbia. The People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Mukhin was ready to cope with the task. Under the guidance of
Mukhina almost one hundred Russian and Serbian craftsmen laid 50 million mosaic elements with a total weight of more than 300 tons. They had to create their own color palette, in which, for example, only 53 shades of blue were used!
**Interior decoration:**
Inside, the temple impresses with its rich decoration and scale. Mosaics and wall paintings were created under the direction of Nikolai Mukhin. The temple is dominated by light and golden shades, which gives it a special atmosphere. The image of the Savior stands above the altar, blessing those entering the temple. The dome of the temple is decorated with a mosaic of the scene "Ascension of the Lord", inspired by the mosaics of St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice.
The Church of St. Sava is not only a religious building, but also a real work of art. The result of this truly titanic work can be seen firsthand by visiting this magical majestic Orthodox church. Visiting it leaves an unforgettable impression and allows you to better understand the culture and history of Serbia.

An amazing temple! Very light, airy. It seems that it is much bigger inside than outside))
It is one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in Europe. The church was designed at the end of the XIX century, but construction could only begin in 1935, and all work was completed only in the next century, in 2004. It was decided to cover the vaults and walls of the temple with mosaics. However, there were no masters with the necessary experience in Serbia. The People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Mukhin was ready to cope with the task. Under Mukhin's leadership, almost one hundred Russian and Serbian craftsmen laid 50 million mosaic elements with a total weight of more than 300 tons. They had to create their own color palette, in which, for example, only 53 shades of blue were used!

I really liked it. In general, Orthodox churches are one of the most colorful prayer houses. In the Church of St.Sava has a lot of beautiful paintings, especially the frescoes on the domes of the temple are fascinating. There are also many scriptures and icons. By the way, this is an active temple and most likely, services are held there.

It is beautiful, majestic, and large-scale. A beautiful temple with a huge number of tourists and parishioners. Inside, it's just a fairy tale. There is a crypt on the ground floor, which you need to remember to go down ✌️

It is a very beautiful temple. Although it is new, the history of its construction is very interesting. Audio guide to the QR code in Serbian, Russian and English. Admission is free. You can safely take photos and shoot videos. Saint Sava plays an important role in Serbian history.

A grandiose place. Quiet, calm, beautiful. It's only natural - candles are placed on the street, it's a little unusual, but if you watch the locals, you can figure it out

A stunning temple. It's very beautiful. It was completed relatively recently. It is not always possible to get into the crypt because it is sometimes closed, and sometimes there is a baptism there.

Inspiringly beautiful) it's good that there are no grannies, as in the Russian Federation. You can safely go in and stand by the icons. To touch the relics. Take a candle quietly and for free and put it on.

It's beautiful and interesting. It was completed with the participation of Gazprom. It's very beautiful inside. I was surprised that candles are placed not inside, but outside. And don't forget to read the history of the temple!

A stunningly beautiful temple, one of the most unusual of those that I have seen with my own eyes. The walls are decorated with mosaics, there is a second hall in the basement. Stunning huge chandelier in the style of Hagia Sophia Cathedral in Constantinople (Istanbul)

The temple is very beautiful, as indicated on the sign next to the temple, our Gazprom has invested 10 million euros there... Well, we have nothing to restore in the country. And so, everything is rich and beautiful, but it's not even fully finished yet. Very new.

A Place of Strength, Peace and Prayer....🙏🏻
But it is necessary to take into account local traditions, in the Orthodox churches of Serbia candles for Health and Repose are placed not in the temple, but next to it in a special room or place...
