5 stars! The museum is very good! The halls are divided by epoch. The audio guide definitely helps you view artifacts in a pleasant and convenient way! The museum is big! Get ready to spend a lot of time in it! Interactive objects will provide additional information and help you relax a little by sitting on a bench and listening to an interesting story! Two floors of perfectly presented historical objects and conveniently located halls will be a godsend for history lovers! A must-visit!

The most interesting museum. The exposition is well chosen. The price is very affordable for such a museum! Each exhibit has a description, quite detailed, which can be read with the help of an interpreter. My husband and I did this: we looked at the exhibit, discussed it. Then they took a photo of the description of the exhibit using a Google translator, or any previously downloaded one, sat on a bench opposite the exhibit and started voice acting. Or just read it. Cheap and convenient.

A wonderful place with an incredible exposition, the museum is quite large and impressive, there is a souvenir shop, the ticket price is 15 euros, but they only accept lira, at the entrance you are given an audio guide with headphones, although our headphones were completely discharged, so we connected our own, but even without a guide, everything is clear if you have at least a little idea about the history of Greek and Roman sculptures

One of the must have places to visit in Istanbul. The ticket is 15 euros or 700 lira, which is not comparable to tickets to palaces for 60-70 euros. The exhibition provides complete information about what the lands of Turkey were like in different eras. The last room is the jewels of Constantinople. There is no history of the sultans' bloody feuds or the development of the Ottoman Empire, but there are halls of Troy and the mythology of Persia and other Greece.

One of the few museums in Istanbul where it was really interesting to take a walk and look at the exhibits. Like probably all people, we went here via the Museum Pass to get the most out of the ticket, but, to be honest, we did not expect such a carefully selected installation. There weren't many visitors (maybe because we traveled in January, which was cold for Istanbul?), which pleased us even more, because almost all the halls were purely for us alone. We didn't take an audio guide, but it would be interesting to listen to a similar description about each era, but everywhere there is a description in English.

It's worth a visit. I was impressed . At the entrance in front of the museum there are sarcophagi made of imperial marble. It's great inside. There is a whole hall dedicated to Troy. All exhibits are in very close access. The visit was free for some reason . Although there was an ad for 100 lire at the checkout . If you do not have detailed information, Read about the museum in advance before visiting, or take a good guide to really surf, rather than just run through the fragments of incomprehensible exhibits.

Initially, I did not plan to visit this museum from the entire large list of attractions in Istanbul, but the weather was rainy and we decided to take a look. And for good reason... it turned out to be one of the most impressive museums visited in this city. There are many very ancient exhibits, originals in an incredibly preserved form! I really liked it, I sincerely advise you to visit!

The museum is great They force you to buy an audio guide at the entrance. They say that there is no information inside. This is a lie, each exhibit is signed with a comment. If you don't know English, you can use a Google translator. It is simply impossible to use an audio guide. Firstly, you need to download the app (this is when you are roaming), and secondly, you still need to charge these headphones. After a walk through the museum, I went to the ticket office to swear in English) They immediately returned the 450 lire to me So do not hesitate to look confident at the entrance and calmly pay only for the ticket. It costs 15 euros.

It's a great big museum, which will take a lot of time (at least 3 hours) to see everything. Despite the fact that on 17.01.26 only one (main) building was open, and the other two (free-standing) were closed. I recommend you to visit. However, finding the entrance to the museum is still a quest))) Yandex maps and all the signs lead through Gulhane Park, BUT there are repairs there (the road is being dug, piles of earth are piled up) and it is impossible to pass, the security says you have to go around outside the garden, while THERE is NOT A SINGLE SIGN. I had to ask a lot of people. So, to get to the museum: you need to enter the territory of Topkapi, where, after passing through the gate, you will have an inspection of things on the tape (a ticket to Topkapi is not required here, you will enter for free). Then, going forward, you will see the temple (museum) of St. Irene on the right, after which turn left and go down the hill (you will see a booth with guards) and an arch in the form of a passage - go there, straight ahead and to the right you will see the ticket office of the archaeological museum. I have attached a photo of the route below. The ticket price is 15 euros, 1,500 Turkish lira for two people. BUT, please note, when buying, as they wrote earlier in the reviews, they say the price is higher... they asked us for 2,400 lira, when they saw that they were giving us packed boxes with headphones for an audio guide, we refused them and they returned 900 lira to us. You can listen to the audio guide for free if you have the Internet: go to the museum's website, download the application, scan the barcode from your ticket there and select the language, that's it, you can listen. There is a toilet only in a separate administrative building, there are also no signs on the street, but when you go inside, you will see the WC icon on the left.

The museum is interesting and with cool exhibits, my daughter, who is 6 years old, was there, and we spent about 3 hours. I liked the power of the ancient statues of the tomb of Macedon... It's better to have the Internet to install the app that they recommend downloading and it tells the story, if that they give headphones)

The museum is incomparable, the surroundings, you go from hall to hall and enjoy, the eye rejoices There is one caveat at the entrance, that even with the phrase: "Only ticket" you are still being sold headphones, you will only find out about it after payment, when they ask: "Language", you had to make a refund for the headphones and suffer a contemptuous look for the return of goods that you do not need and costs half of the ticket price. I had my headphones with me because I know that the audio guide is free in the app after scanning the QR code from the ticket

To put it bluntly, I didn't expect this museum to be so cool. The exhibits are of excellent preservation, and there are many of them, and a lot of 3-4 centuries BC. The exposition is concise and informative. The lighting is beautifully exposed. We came a little late, I didn't want to leave there. I'll definitely go there again next time. In general, I was impressed.

The disgusting quality of the audio guide and the bench at the entrance with a euro ticket "for tourists", which is stuffed with cheap Chinese headphones, they can't even be connected to the phone properly. Request a regular ticket in lira. The audio guide is terrible, don't waste time installing it: the titles seem to be from bad machine translation, the numbering is missing or incorrect, the narration is 80% water and a stream of empty terms without explanation. They turned it off after the first 10 tracks and didn't regret it. The museum itself is quite large, for an hour or two, it is interesting with marble statues, ornaments from excavations, etc., although it does not stand out in any special way among similar museums.

The museum has a lot to see for lovers of antiquity. There are sculptures, dishes, decorations. In my opinion, the most interesting room is with sarcophagi. When buying tickets, you will be offered headphones with an audio guide. The headphones are all discharged and it is not possible to use them, you just buy wireless headphones for 900 lira. Everyone downloads the application on the brochure that they give out with the ticket and goes and listens to the audio guide as usual. So think about whether you need headphones for that money...

We have been waiting for a trip to the Istanbul Archaeological Museum for a very long time, but from the very moment of buying the ticket, disappointment came and the impression of the museum deteriorated. On the website of Istanbul museums, on Google maps, the price of 15 euros or 730 lira is indicated everywhere. But when we came to buy tickets at the box office, the price turned out to be almost 500 lire more, instead of 1,500 lire for two, we gave 2,360 lire. It turns out that cashiers add the cost of obscure Chinese headphones to the ticket price without asking. When trying to return the money for them, we were told that you can only buy a ticket with headphones. Tickets for entry to the museum have a QR code that allows you to listen to the audio guide without headphones. At the same time, the locals passed with tickets without headphones. They love to rip off money from foreigners in Istanbul. When buying tickets at the box office, pay attention to this and immediately abandon everything that is imposed on you. The museum itself is very interesting, with many ancient Greek statues and huge ancient sarcophagi. Definitely worth a visit.

Sculptures, sarcophagi, coins, jewelry, dishes and vessels, everything ancient, everything interesting. A separate hall is dedicated to the excavations of Troy. In one hall there is a real olive tree as part of the exhibition. A couple of places where you can sit down and watch an educational video on the big screen. The museums have two floors, 1-1.5 hours is enough. I won't say about the price, it was free (it was a special day)).

The staff at the checkout is not responsive. It's useless to buy headphones with an audio guide. It is completely uninformative, not all exhibits have information and generally uploaded information about nothing. The exhibits themselves can be viewed if the weather is not very good outside. Or with a guide, to make it interesting.

The most beautiful museum. Only if you have not prepared for visiting it yourself, it is better to go with a guide. The audio guide is not always translated into the native language. We were unlucky when we visited, only part of the exposition with sculptures and an exhibition about the excavations of Troy was open. It's a pity that the rest was left behind the scenes.

I liked it, although my sister didn't like it) The exposition is quite informative, there are many sculptures, household utensils, jewelry and, of course, sarcophagi.. I was very impressed by the scale of the Roman Empire when you look at the map and compare it with modern geographical realities.. There is something to think about .

In terms of price-quality ratio, for me, the best in Istanbul! Very cool collections (sculpture, hoards of gold coins, stunning sarcophagi, gold jewelry) plus the opportunity to explore the profession of an archaeologist (what and how to search, how to determine the details of the life of a found person). In general, I recommend it if there is any interest in the above!

This is a place that definitely needs to be visited by connoisseurs of the ancient history of the Near East. The museum was founded at a time when the Ottoman Empire still existed, so its exposition includes not only artifacts found in the current territory of Turkey, but also from Syria, Egypt, and Mesopotamia. The exposition is well organized, there are many explanatory texts in English and Turkish. There are wonderful paintings on the walls depicting scenes from the life of the respective cities and civilizations. A separate large section is devoted to Troy (before going to the excavations, it is better to see their results here!). A wonderful hall dedicated to the profession of archaeology itself, with a model of excavation, a bunch of educational videos and equipment that is used in the study of found artifacts.

The Archaeological Museum in Istanbul is certainly one of the best museums in the city with a rich collection of historical artifacts. Greek sculptures, household items and tableware, sarcophagi and ritual burial paraphernalia, as well as a separate hall dedicated to the semi-mythical city of Troy - all that makes up the cultural stratum of the ancient peoples who inhabited the Turkish lands long before the Ottomans. I highly recommend it to all History lovers.

The museum is interesting, especially for connoisseurs of history. Entry in February 2025 cost 575 liras. Unique exhibits are collected, it was especially interesting to look at the exhibits of Troy, I had never seen such a thing in museums before, there are several different halls, there are interactive ones. By a "lucky" chance, I got on school trips, the children were very active in shouting at the entire museum, almost touching the exhibits, the museum staff did not make comments, as did the teachers. I had to run to the second floor to quietly enjoy a piece of history.😅

For me, this museum has become the best attraction in Istanbul. 1. Beautiful ancient statues from 7-8 BC to 1-2 centuries AD. 2. Sarcophagus, made on the instructions of Alexander the Great for the satrap, i.e. is his contemporary. 3. Trojan artifacts + a visual hall with a huge wall showing the depth of the excavation. 4. The lowest price among all paid places in Istanbul (1400 rubles for June 2025). 5. There are few people if you go in the morning. 6. Well, and a bonus: coins of Byzantium.

This is the third time I have visited this museum! I love it, I spend several hours there to examine ancient statues, sarcophagi and household items, a huge collection of coins from different ancient eras. Very interesting. But this time, in November 2024, the halls with the best sarcophagi were closed for restoration, only 5 pieces are available, and the ceramics museum is completely closed. That is, 2/3 of the museum is inaccessible. Keep in mind when visiting. There is no information about this anywhere, the cost is like for a full museum.

Istanbul Archaeological Museum, it was at first a place to visit for the sake of curiosity, I love museums! But there were so many emotions after the visit! I was especially surprised, delighted and simply fell in love with the collection of sarcophagi! There were few Egyptian ones, but they are in a separate corner of my memory for me. But the others! I JUST CAN'T DESCRIBE IT!!!!! huge, marble ones! With just incredibly beautiful carvings! And the statues? God! What a job and what an incredible beauty! I will definitely attach a photo! Dishes, coins, and jewelry are on display on the second floor of the museum. I want to look at everything, bargain... It takes a lot of time for each exposure! Because you just can't get away. I advise anyone who loves museums to visit there!

The exposition itself is quite in line with expectations. But it does not match the price of 15 euros (6,000 rubles at the exchange rate for 4 family members) plus an audio guide imposed at the checkout with absolutely terrible headphones (another 4,000 rubles for 4 sets, a total of 10,000 rubles), which randomly connect to the phones of all family members and are discharged after 5 minutes. Fiddling with the audio guide connection completely ruined the whole experience. Audio guide - money is wasted! It turned out to be almost impossible to use it, and the money (4,000 rubles) cannot be returned here. I would also like to mention the trademark "courtesy" of the security guards, who drove visitors out almost 10 minutes before the museum closed. Alexander's sarcophagus, as it turned out later, is not exactly related to Alexander the Great. On the plus side, the exposition dedicated to the excavations in Troy is very interesting. In general, for such an archaeologically rich territory, the exposition looks a bit poor, in the same Heraklion (compare the territory of Crete and the Ottoman Empire) it is much richer. Total -kkk prices in Paris, service as in Turkey

The museum itself is excellent, the exposition is rich. I was in it in 2022, everything was fine. In October 2024, after standing in line, I saw the ticket price of 15 euros, gave euros, to which the cashiers said that the payment was exclusively in lira, I say OK, I give the equivalent in lira of 550 lira, but they tell me - let's give 900, more headphones.but I don't need headphones, they answer that they are not interested in it, you can't do it without headphones. There were 5 of us, they gave us 5 pairs of headphones, we go into the museum, we try to connect to Wi-Fi, but it doesn't work, the employee inside confirms this to us. We go to the checkout and try to hand over the headphones, they answer us, yes indeed, Wi-Fi does not work, but we will not take the headphones, and for an additional fee you can take an audio guide. The museum has many antique sculptures, sarcophagi, and coins of various ancient states. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to Troy: it shows the stages of the city's development and the artifacts found during its excavations. One of the halls explains in detail how archaeologists work. The museum has two floors, and the building is large, so if you look at everything in detail, you can spend several hours or more. There is a free audio guide for your phone, which also has the Russian language, but there are several nuances with its installation. Inside the museum, near the turnstiles, there is a stand with a QR code, with which you can download an audio guide application to your phone. You can do this if you have a mobile Internet connection, and there is no free Wi-Fi on the museum's territory. Next, using the audio guide application, you need to scan the QR code from the entrance ticket to the museum, and then you can download the actual audio guide files. A ticket to the museum can be purchased either at the ticket office near the entrance, or online on the official website. The cost in January 2025 is 15 euros.

An excellent museum, with many exhibits, mostly from the ancient Greek and Roman periods. Each room has a thematic brief description of the era presented (Turkish/English), it's convenient, at least you understand what you're looking at)) There is an audio guide in the app. You can take your headphones with you and listen. When you are offered headphones at the checkout, do not be fooled, they are not offering an audio guide, but really stupid headphones (I almost returned with 3 pairs like that). I didn't have enough archaeological exhibits from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, but there are separate museums for this, as I understand it. Otherwise, it's a very impressive collection, and at the exit you can buy cool cards, souvenirs and merch)

The museum is incredibly rich in antique sculptures. The exhibition is complemented by panoramic paintings with subjects from different eras, which are presented in the halls. And there are artifacts collected for tens of centuries, since the time of Troy. By the way, separate halls with very informative descriptions are dedicated to this city. In general, for those who are interested - a museum for the whole day! It is better to buy tickets online, there is a long queue at the entrance.
