Monument to the Soviet soldiers who secured the capture of the bridge over the Western Dvina and the retention of the bridgehead. Of the 23 warriors, only one remained alive. Yuri Vizbor wrote the song "At the Cost of My Life" about this feat. The monument was erected in 1989.

An unusual monument to the soldiers of the liberators of the city during the Second World War, made realistically, is located near the embankment in the city center. There is a parking lot and a temple nearby. A memorable place, I recommend you to visit.

In the summer of 1944, during the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis, a group of fighters seized a bridgehead on the right bank of the Dvina River near the bridge and held it until the main forces approached, preventing the Germans from blowing up the bridge. Of the 23 people, only one remained alive. And the rest turned into white cranes.
