They go to Cordoba, first of all, for the sake of the monumental Mosque-Cathedral complex, or simply Mesquites. Mesquita was built as a mosque and was there for several centuries, until Christians came to power in Cordoba. Anyone who has visited this mosque, which was intricately complemented by the Spanish Catholic cathedral, will probably agree that it is a unique structure of unusual configuration with an extremely unusual interior atmosphere. I think it's hard to find analogues for him in the world. Perhaps the most important feeling you experience in this building is lasting wonder, in the good sense of the word. The construction of the mosque took place in 786-88. By the 10th century, Cordoba had reached its heyday, becoming a center of Arabic scholarship, poetry, and art. The last significant expansion of the mosque was carried out in 987-988, which brought its size to 180×130m and made it the second largest in area after the Holy Mosque in Mecca. In 1236, Cordoba was recaptured from the Moors and the mosque was turned into a Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Does it remind you of anything?
