In 2020, a star alley with the image of Heroes of the Soviet Union Sergeant Stepan Krynin, Red Army soldier Alexander Rai, Major Artem Borichevsky, senior sergeants Kazbek Nurzhanov and Gabriel Medvedev appeared on the city square. All of them are participants in the liberation of the Volkovysk land from the Nazi invaders. Streets in Volkovysk are named in their honor, memorial plaques are installed. And in memory of Kazbek Nurzhanov, athletics competitions among young people are held annually in Sports School No. 1.
