Beautiful, quiet place🙌 The ruins of the museum are located next to the river and the flood, where there are many birds. Beautiful flamingos are happy to pose for the camera! Nearby the port of Demre is the most beautiful place where you can see turtles.

It was closed for repairs in 2025. We were walking, so we didn't want to come back just like that, we got through a hole in the fence. You can also walk along the country road from the side of the modern port. The ruins are of medium preservation, there is a museum that used to work. There is a perfectly preserved underground cistern with a descent. The city was a port in antiquity on the Egypt-capital grain route (Rome or Constantinople) He worked miracles in it (according to his lives) St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The Apostles Paul and Luke were in prison (making a transfer from ship to ship on the way to Rome). Now the harbor is swamped, the walls have not been preserved.

Everything is enclosed by a fence on the mountain side. There's a swamp on the other side. But you can get to the ruins through the forest from the port side. 😎 The museum is under renovation in October 2025. Some of the ruins are visible from the sidewalk. There are signs in various languages in the forest forbidding access to the ruins.
