We happened to come to a wine tasting. Each wine has its own dish, which goes well with it and complements each other. It turned out to be a very tasty and interesting experience.
The place itself is not big, there are not many people, there is an opportunity to chat with the chef.
We plan to come and try the usual menu and taste different wines, of which there is quite a large selection.

It's a great place. I liked everything.
You feel at home, while the food level is Michelin.
1. Food. She's great. We took 2 different sets. Of the 5 positions, only 2 were just good (pate and truffles) - the rest is beyond praise.
2. Wine. The host offered excellent wine. It has been a long time since we persuaded a bottle for 2 in the evening. But everything was very harmonious here.
3. The atmosphere. It is not crowded and the owner can pay all the attention. A very hospitable Armenian. My wife had a doctor's guess with some of her favorite flowers as a gift.
For the price: 60k local people came out for dinner with tips. For such a level, the price is very reasonable. I recommend it to everyone, if the budget allows. We enjoyed it immensely and will definitely come back on our next visit to Yerevan.

Everything is great in this place, except for the pricing policy. The five-course set for 18,000 drams seemed too big to me, so I decided to order pasta - it is listed as one of the items on the set menu and costs a more or less adequate 4,400. But the waiter said it was a microscopic portion of a set. I didn't understand why then it should be included in the menu as a separate item with a separate price. Which, by the way, exceeds the upper limit of the price for a normal-sized portion of pasta in Yerevan. We left the establishment. A little bit about the place. Entrance from Khanjyan Street, descent to the basement.
A five-course set is enough for one person to have dinner. The set costs 15,000 drams (3750 rubles for today). It is more profitable to take a set at once - 4 dishes separately are already more expensive than the whole set :)
The wine is only Armenian, but there are literally a hundred kinds of it, the chef helped us choose several bottles for our dishes (we drank Oshin and Noah).

The staff did not hear our wishes and preferences at all, we ate almost nothing. Small portions, a 5-course set for 18,000 drams.
🍵 I chose either quince or pumpkin soup, I was persistently offered pepper and tomatoes with Feta cheese, I said that Feta is salty and tomato will probably be sour, I would not like this, but I was run away that this is an immortal masterpiece of this restaurant and the cheese is not salty AT ALL! I asked what the taste would be, they told me it was amazing, cheesy taste and baked bell peppers. In the end, I gave up and trusted this lovely woman.
As a result: Feta cheese is very salty, the soup is sour and spicy! I don't eat spicy food, it wasn't even mentioned. My friend didn't eat it either, he was also in pain.
The duck was completely raw, and I was assured that this is how it should be, that the duck is not cooked any other way!! And we were not warned or even asked what kind of roasting we want. The meat was sticky, it didn't chew, and I didn't want to chew it, I don't eat raw meat and I don't even eat Medium. The owner looked at us in surprise and continued to prove that the duck is not cooked in any other way, but it's like I live on another planet and have never eaten a duck, I don't like when they put so much pressure on me, and I have to justify myself for not liking the food that I didn't expect to get. It's not a pleasant feeling. And yes, I know how to cook duck in a different way, and many in Russia also know what baked duck is, we often cook it for the new year, and it is not raw. We nicknamed this dish "the duck that quacks"
. No one was embarrassed that we were returning the dishes one by one.
Pasta is a tiny portion of pasta with pesto sauce and some very salty Armenian cheeses on top. That's it!
The only thing I enjoyed was the delicious orange wine.,
The dessert is a drunken pear, which, by the way, I was also dissuaded from for some reason, although I ordered it in the first place, I really like this and I had to win it back.
They "sold" horseradish ice cream to me, I said that I don't eat horseradish and I can't even stand the smell!, and you know what???
As a snack, We ordered bruschetta (sandwiches) with salmon and these loaves, on which the fish was lying, were smeared with HORSERADISH. Well, it's absurd!
It was just funny to us at first, and then it hurt. Why is an institution of this level, and there is no service and basic attention to guests?. Although it was only in relation to us. A large company was sitting next to us and they were friends and acquaintances of the owner and they were recommended dishes that tasted better, explained how they were cooked and all the details of which we did not receive, but were not even heard. But these guys ordered after us, we had already eaten dessert by that time.

The interior design is perfect, I went in and said "Wow", everything is thought out to the smallest detail: style, lighting, paintings by one artist that preserve and complement the style of the restaurant, masterpiece works, I immediately recognized Cond in the paintings, he is very recognizable, picturesque and colorful and depicted so delicious, you can't take your eyes off. The lamps are right under the paintings, they illuminate them from below and the warm yellow light is reflected on the brushstrokes of the painting and they shine and shimmer, it literally enlivens the image😍
The artist who painted the paintings and the designer of this institution, you are geniuses!
The atmosphere is like in an expensive banquet hall, in a castle.
But the first owner did it all, and now the restaurant belongs to another person, I understand that he is the cook, I believe that there are delicious dishes there, but the whole problem is that they did not hear us and did not take into account our wishes, and this is the most important thing!
My friend brought me there because after the first hike (with the first owner) he was so delighted that he wanted me to go there too. And by the way, he writes gastronomic articles and he is often invited to expensive establishments with author's cuisine and he was so confident in this institution, but alas ....
As a result, we drank a bottle of delicious wine, I recommend everyone to try orange wine, wherever you are.
Oh yes, because they forgot to bring me tea, as compensation, I received a second pear for free)))
When we left, the owner finally told us to come hungry next time. It was another strange saying, as if if I were very hungry, I would eat both spicy and raw in silence. It's not pretty

- a short menu with the ability to order individual items, but if there are more than 3 dishes, then the set is more profitable;
- a chamber atmosphere inside, we were lucky to have the chef himself working with us. A super open and friendly person!

I have no idea why the restaurant has high reviews. I went to the top place, but I got below all standards.
The food ranges from frankly not tasty, (for example, terribly fatty lasagna with grass), to quite ordinary, like duck.
Dessert was served for 40 minutes. I regretted that I didn't leave without him-he's just no good.
Okay, the appetizer was fun to taste and serve. But everything else wasn't worth going there at all.
The service is so-so. You come and wait for someone to come up to you, because there is no one in the hall. The waiters are dressed haphazardly, they communicate strangely. For example, in the end, he was outraged that we did not study the bill before paying.
Of the alcohol-free drinks, only water and tea/coffee. No lemonades, juices, etc. There seem to be a lot of different wines, but I didn't drink that evening.
It is not necessary to bury, there are few people and almost empty halls. Which is not surprising. I do not recommend this place

Here you will not find lavash and shish kebab on the menu, Barev Arev serves delicious dishes that you will not find anywhere else in Armenia. We celebrated our daughter's birthday on June 18, as if we had been somewhere in Paris or Berlin.
To the owner Sasha, who himself comes up with both dishes and serving, respect! To the waiter (I don't remember his name) too.

Being a flight in Yerevan, I couldn't help but visit this famous institution.
It so happened that on that Sunday evening, only the boss (named Sasha, who reminded me of Vakhtang Kikabidze, my childhood love) and his assistant were available. Therefore, Sasha was "one for all", tried to keep up with serving all visitors and compensate for delays in serving dishes, entertaining guests with small talk and wine tastings. However, I did not notice any delays, because we took the time between serves with an impromptu excursion to the wine room and other interesting places.
Now about the kitchen. For an appetizer, I chose a fish mosaic, which arrived in the form of a piece of a triangular roll made of something fishy. It was very tender, I can't say now what exactly was there, but it was delicious – absolutely. I also tried the liver pate, and it was wonderfully delicious.
I have long dreamed of trying hot matzoni soup, as I have heard (generally) contradictory reviews about it, rarely anyone likes it. I do not know what it is in the traditional version, but in the author's version of Alexander it was great, I liked it! Rating "5" out of "5")))
The final chord was mascarpone and mustard ice cream: as a lover of exotics and culinary experiments, I gave him my heart and dream of reproducing it at home!
Anyone who will be in Yerevan and wants something non-trivial, made with soul and imagination, is here for you!
