I'm from Ukraine, so I don't know the cuisine from pictures.
The restaurant is in the very center (you won't find parking), very compact for 8-10 tables.
The kitchen is open. The menu is small. Everything is very, very tasty, we have tried 80% of the menu in a few visits. The presentation is interesting and appetizing. The staff is very friendly, we froze on January 5th and arrived 40 minutes ahead of our reservation - they found us a place outside in transparent houses.
I recommend 100%.
The price tag is above average.

A restaurant that everyone needs to visit. The performance of Ukrainian cuisine is a masterpiece: I ate borscht, lard with garlic, jelly and drank tinctures. I have been to many restaurants of Ukrainian cuisine from the Black Sea to China, but this restaurant is the best.
At the same time, not only the rich taste of the main dishes pleases, but also the additions to them. For example, a pampushka is always a part of borscht, but its quality can be very different. There's a bomb in the pampushki! And what kind of garlic oil goes to them, it's just a melody. Or, for example, another detail is the serving of jelly with mustard and horseradish, while the latter are balanced.
Separately, I praise all the bread in the institution - even ordinary black bread was served with bacon so that it was delicious, warm and fresh. It did not have that "callousness of taste" that black bread suffers from occasionally.
A word about tinctures - it so happened that I drink only wine and do not like strong alcohol, but here... these are exactly the tinctures that you can drink as a digital, which smoothes the meal with a pleasant sweet trail and warms you up before leaving the establishment. At the same time, despite the high degree, alcohol is not felt.
The service is the highest level, the conversation, the serving, the way the jelly was taken care of and applied.
I consider the restaurant to be the top 2 in Almaty.
P.S. I think that you need to add homemade kvass.

Delicious food and pleasant service. I tried tartare (it tastes a little like minced meat, but if you pour lemon it turns into the most delicate fish souffle), dumplings and veal tails. I also tried fried broccoli, and it tastes great. I haven't tried borscht, but it seems that this is the most popular position on the menu, and everyone praises it too.
As a result, I went here twice during my visit to Almaty.
The prices are average. It's not very cheap, but it doesn't seem expensive for such a meal.

When you want clear food and large portions, we always go to bitanga. Of course, our favorites are borscht, sometimes it is too sweet, but this is extremely rare. Then we love the heat, especially when we are very hungry, it flies at 10/10! And another top is Kiev cutlets, well, just the best in the city! I also recommend draniki, pancakes, dumplings and dumplings, and a Kiev cake for dessert)

We visited this restaurant yesterday and were very satisfied! Borscht is just super! My husband ate a hodgepodge, he said that it was also very tasty! The pancakes are awesome! The kitchen is very tasty. The serving size is average. In my rating, probably the best restaurant of Ukrainian cuisine in Almaty. I will especially note borscht and solyanka, as well as fried potatoes.
The interior is pleasant, tasteful. The only negative is that it's a little cramped.
