It was built by the merchant Shner Smolyansky in 1902. In 1917, after the revolution, the merchant was forced to leave Vitebsk, and the mansion was left without an owner. Later, the building was rented out and used as a residential building. In the 80s, the one-story building was transferred to the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
