A very atmospheric place, decorated in the style of local flavor! Friendly waiters in national clothes will help with the choice of dishes, because the menu is very extensive!
The food is incredibly delicious: the dolma is juicy, the eggplant in tempura is beyond praise, and the veal in dogwood sauce is amazing.
And all this at absolutely reasonable prices in the central part of the city!

If you want to try the local cuisine, I recommend the Dolma restaurant. It is easy to find, it is 2 steps from the Old Town and Starbucks. Authentic interior, cozy , very clean . We visited it several times and always had a warm welcome , excellent service , the quality of the dishes is unchanged , my husband especially liked the pilaf with fruit . I recommend a salad with crispy eggplant , saj with lamb , tortillas from the oven , quince compote and of course tea.
We were also surprised by the prices , with such a quality of dishes and serving , they are lower than similar restaurants nearby and you can choose for any purse .

It is a very atmospheric, pleasant place. Varied, delicious food, really huge portions like everyone else's. Excellent, courteous service in Russian, including. Clean, stylish interior. There is an Internet distribution. The prices are standard for a restaurant in the center of Baku. But the quality of the dishes and their size are worth the money. We highly recommend it.

It's like a big teahouse with restaurant prices in the basement of a historic building.
A long corridor with small open rooms. You'll be eating, and people are always walking by, like at a food court.
About prices - for comparison, in a cafe under the wall of the old city, which is quieter and more authentic, a salad with caramelized eggplant costs 9 manats, but here it's about 12 manats, plus 50%
We came on the advice of a tour salesman with the characteristic "tasty and cheap". In fact, it's not like that.

Excellent restaurant with local cuisine, Azerbaijani flavor and courteous staff. The restaurant is located in the basement and has many halls. The interior is interesting and photogenic. The cuisine is delicious and quick to serve. The cost of lunch for two is around 40-60 manats without alcohol. A glass of pomegranate wine from 9 manats. Local beer is bottled for a half-liter glass of 5-6 manats. It is located in the center of Baku, next to Fountain Square and Primorsky Boulevard, three hundred meters away. The most recent place that my wife and I visited while in Baku. And the most delicious! The beer is served at exactly the right temperature, the food is delicious, the service is courteous, our waiter Ramis was great! We tried the local vodka with raisins, very unusual and delicious. And the bread that was brought to us was just out of the oven and just melted in our mouth. We were satisfied with everything, everything is great!!

This is the first time I've tasted delicious dolma, and there's a lot of it in the cup, and it's delicious. The son tried the soup with something like dumplings, normally, but he took the dish with beef and vegetables and covered it with a flatbread, not knowing the serving size. The Dolma restaurant is at the same time a tourist place where almost all guides in Baku invite you to have lunch after excursions, and at the same time a place with delicious and high–quality cuisine at affordable prices.
Dolma in grape leaves (10 ₼) is a national dish of Azerbaijani cuisine. Surprisingly, it is difficult to find delicious dolma in Baku, but here it is delicious.
Choban salad (6 ₼) is a salad with cucumbers, tomatoes and herbs, a classic of Azerbaijani cuisine and any institution in the city.

An interesting place with a local flavor, which was recommended by the guide. A lot of tables are divided into small halls. (That's why we were able to eat without reservation of the table) The tables are very tightly arranged. When you get up, the chair immediately bumps into the neighbor from behind.
There is a TV on in every room, but this almost does not interfere with communication.
The menu is very diverse. There are about 10 types of pilaf from 10 manats to 50 manats per Check-pilaf. I tried sweet pilaf for 11 manats. The portions of pilaf are very large. The whole menu is a little more expensive than it was in another similar establishment. Salads for 7-8 manats.
There are no complaints about the kitchen. Everything is delicious.
From the service, I did not like that tea was brought to me, spilled in a saucer.
The receipt includes a 10% service fee by default.

Basement room for a huge number of guests. The owners of the establishment want to put tables next to each other so much that it is impossible to move the chairs to sit at the table. It's uncomfortable. Not cheap.
Positive: Well, a large number of the dishes we ordered arrived very quickly. Two types of kebabs, two soups, wonderful fried eggplant, fried dumplings and something else. The tortillas are delicious and hot. The tomato soup is spicy.
Cons: I told the waiter that I couldn't eat lamb, and we picked up a shish kebab with beef and grilled vegetables to go with it. The shish kebab is very difficult to chew, my jaw was tired, the grilled vegetables were just black coals - you have to pick to eat something. And they even stuff fat into the eggplant. This is as strange and completely tasteless as possible, especially for someone who has voiced that he cannot eat it.
The service was included in the bill. Since the bill is delivered in Azerbaijani, we asked if this line meant the service was turned off, to which the waiter replied, "No, it's not for us, it's for the establishment," cunningly hinting at additional tips.
Fried dumplings smelled too much of mutton, for comparison they were taken elsewhere, there was no such thing.
In total, double-check the bill, don't be afraid to ask what they include (there were cases in Baku with left-hand bread baskets added) and keep in mind that tips are already included in the bill.

We ordered four dishes.

Chicken in cherry sauce for 1 out of five. The sauce is ordinary cherry jam. The chicken is dry. And the chicken is not fillet, but chakhokhbili, with cartilage, which was not indicated on the menu.
It is also a long service. The order was accepted quickly. The dishes were taken out and then the waiter disappeared. We waited 10 minutes to ask for the bill. Then about 10 minutes, when the change is brought.
As a result, the service is also 10%, which was not seen in the menu😂

We were here several times in October 2023. Indeed, a cozy and atmospheric institution. There are Russian-speaking waiters. Very friendly!
The food is delicious and very diverse! The menu is huge, the book is 50 pages long.
The only thing to pay attention to is that almost all dishes, except those cooked on the grill, contain butter. If someone has lactose intolerance, this should be taken into account.
In general, everything is 5+!!!

This restaurant is located near the old town, and to be honest, if we hadn't been advised by a local guide, we wouldn't have noticed it, a small sign outside, then a descent to the basement and interestingly decorated zoned halls. Now about the most important thing, it's the kitchen. We travel a lot and certainly have something to compare it with. The most important thing in this restaurant is simply divinely delicious cuisine! I really liked the salads with tomatoes, quite simple, but with unusual dressings, especially with pomegranate sauce, dolma Three sisters, this is something that you should definitely try. A very tasty Saj, an excellent selection of wines and a divine lamb kebab, one of the best and most delicate that I have ever eaten. We highly recommend you to visit, we are sure you will not regret it. Many thanks to the polite and friendly staff. And for the owners and chefs, keep it that way and only raise the level. I visited this restaurant, which is so advertised among Russian tourists, the impression is not very good.
We ordered a barbecue salad and brought some porridge. I didn't even want to look at it. We ordered a vegetable plate and brought the whole vegetables. In Russia, it's always slicing. And how it is. Pick up a cucumber and take a bite out of it))) funny. We ordered pilaf.... They brought a large plate on which one half is rice and the other half is meat. It's not tasty at all. It turns out that the rice was cooked separately, the meat was cooked separately, somewhere in a bowl. A real pilaf is like everything should be cooked together in one cauldron.
So I don't think it turned out to be tasteless to me, apparently there is always such a feed. The price tag is high. There is a quite decent Khazar cafe nearby, it is not searched there, but at least it is clear what you are eating. And the price tag is two times lower, and the interior is the same.
In short, don't get fooled by what they're trying to sell you. Look for your interesting places.
And if you do not go to this restaurant when you arrive in Baku, you will not lose anything, and even save money
