ISTANBUL MODERN is a must—visit for visuals and those who are interested in the contrast with the historical side of Istanbul.
This is probably the best museum of modern art that I have ever visited. Although, of course, it is worth considering the subjectivity of perception, especially in the topic of contemporary art.
The museum building itself features modern architecture, huge panoramic windows, light, space, and a circular observation deck with stunning views of the city and the Bosphorus. The roof under the observation deck is covered with water, and visually it seems to dissolve into the strait. Seagulls sit on the parapets, and when they fly up in a flock — along with the reflection of the sky in the water — it's just magic.
The exhibition is located in three halls: painting, graphics, interactive installations, sculpture, photography. You can get around in an hour, if you don't have enough time, there is definitely something to look at and consider. I was particularly impressed by the works that modernize the Turkish ethnicity — subtly and strongly.
The location is perfect for those who need visual content for social networks)) There is where and what to take pictures of, against the background of what, too. I would like to note separately that the installation is made of red threads: if you have time to capture the moment without people and be able to shoot, you can make very interesting shots.
Inside there is a souvenir shop with souvenirs (without consumer goods) and something more, a library (I'm not sure if there are books in Russian, but suddenly), and a nice cafe with a view of the water.
Ticket price:
700 lire — for tourists
450 liras — for students (take your student ID with you, they may accept it) and for 65+
Separately about the location:
The museum is located in Beyoglu and overlooks a stylish modern embankment overlooking the Golden Horn arrow and the Bosphorus. On the right is Karakey: street cafes, bars, authentic shops, the legendary shawarma with mackerel and the "street with umbrellas". On the left is the area with the brand stores that we miss so much, coffee shops and verandas on the waterfront. And in front of the main facade is a square with a mosque and a clock tower from the Ottoman period.
The building fits perfectly into the urban environment, and the whole area left a very pleasant and complete impression. I advise you to go beyond visiting the museum and take a longer walk in the area.

We try to visit the museum of modern art in every country.
The Istanbul Museum is no exception.
As of February 2025, admission cost 700 lira per person.
The space is interesting and modern.
There is a stunning observation deck on the roof overlooking the straits and the city.
The expositions are diverse. There are photographs, statues, paintings and interactive exhibitions.
Like any art, we didn't try to understand everything, but just looked for something that would respond specifically to us. Then we spent the whole evening discussing what we saw.
Plus, the entire territory of Galata port is worth a visit. There is a beautiful and new embankment here.

Definitely recommended to visit. Comparisons with Erarta in St. Petersburg, with the Heydar Aliyev Museum in Baku, next to the shopping center with branded shops and a very beautiful embankment, a good location, two stops away by tram T1 direction by ferry to the Prince Islands .

It's a great museum. There are always interesting exhibitions. Of course, I would like it to be more ... the cost is pleasant. There's a restaurant on one of the floors, but they let you sit there if you're going to eat, just tea or coffee.. Pass by. There is a magnificent panorama on the top floor!
The entrance fee is reasonable.
This is an interesting museum of modern art! And then you can continue walking along the embankment)

I liked the space both inside and outside.
There aren't many exhibitions, but it's enough to look at everything and get inspired in an hour. Navigation is simple. There is a souvenir shop inside.
The access to the roof is wonderful - the view of the liners and the seagulls running around is a special delight.

Some of the museum's exhibits made an indelible impression on me, and I am very glad that I managed to get to the temporary exhibition red spider's web. I had an interesting feeling when I walked through this tunnel. It seemed like you were a blood cell moving through a vessel or you were in someone's memories. I will not describe all the exhibits - for some you need to read the description - in order to feel it in the moment - what the author wanted to convey, and sometimes pink ribbons are not just ribbons

It turned out to be a lot too modern for me, from the category of "I'm an artist, that's how I see it."
And you watch the uninteresting ones. It does not attract, does not capture, does not evoke feelings.
But there were also decent jobs.
I've wanted to visit the museum for a long time, and the "red installation" has become an additional incentive.
The best object at this exhibition is definitely!
It's amazing.
The photo gallery is good. We stayed there for a long time. I really liked almost all the works.
The idea of chairs is brilliant.
It is convenient when you want to stop and reflect with the author of the work. It is definitely much more convenient to do this sitting down. Why didn't we come up with that?)
I recommend it!
The museum is very worthy!
There is a cafe inside with a beautiful view of the Galaport and the Bosphorus.
For May 2025, the ticket price is 750 liras.
The exchange rate of $ 100 is 3680 rubles.

A huge building, three floors, spacious halls.
I was honestly afraid of getting lost.
The exhibition is contemporary art, each hall has its own atmosphere and you can track how feelings and mood change.
There is a description through the codes .
But most of all I liked the veranda and the views of the liner.

One of the best in Istanbul! A great location when I left the museum and found myself in decent and trendy restaurants and shops on the Bosphorus embankment. In addition to the permanent exhibition, new exhibitions of Turkish and international artists always come, they constantly change, which is always pleasing, especially if you live here :) There is a library where you can work quietly and find good books. I haven't reached the restaurant at the museum yet, but it looks fashionable, beautiful interior and view 😍

I fell in love with this place the December before last... The building itself and its geometry make you fall in love from the very first minutes. Photos and paintings, exhibits-you can walk for several hours. There is a cafe and a restaurant, when buying a ticket they give a coupon for a free dessert in the restaurant or cookies in the cafe, the coffee is delicious. The store is not cheap at the museum, but creativity is never cheap) there is just a fantastic view on the roof in winter-conda water and hundreds of seagulls...

There are not many art museums in Istanbul, but this one is quite decent against the general background. Nothing important or significant could be found in the exhibition, but the cross-section of the Turkish modern is interesting. Well, it also makes sense to pay attention to rotating exhibitions. And yet - there's a great laptop upstairs!

We really liked Istanbul modern. It is a very modern and beautiful building. The organization in the museum, as well as the surroundings and atmosphere, is very consistent with the purpose of the museum, not inferior to European museums of modern art. The main exhibition consists of works by Terutsky authors. Everything is very impressive. There is a restaurant in the museum. A wonderful museum that is worth a visit. Among the disadvantages, the entrance ticket is not included in the Istanbul museum pass, but this is rather a disadvantage of the Istanbul Museum Pass, which includes very few objects.

Excellent location. A comfortable space. There is a lot of free space, it looks a little empty. Most of the exhibits are strange, some with elements of cruelty. There are exhibits that illustrate school experiments in physics. In my opinion, the entry price of about 1,500 rubles is too high.

A modern building for the Museum of Modern Art is a new point of attraction in Istanbul. I was very impressed by the roof with water, on which gulls walk and the sky is reflected. As well as Digital waves in the mirror room-which simulate the appearance of waves and the noise of the waves of the Bosphorus-you get stuck from this light and sound representation and lose track of time. You can come even just for the sake of these two pieces, but there are other interesting things)

I didn't expect anything from this place, I just decided to look in early in the morning, yes, this is not MOMA, and not Guggenheim, but (!!) to be outside the hustle and bustle of Istanbul and the traditions of noise in the center is the place) this museum or, more precisely, the gallery is small, 1.5 hours is more than enough to "look" and "understand", and then with a cup of coffee "think" on the embankment to the same gallery)
