We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at this restaurant every year. The staff was nice, polite and helpful. But this year I'm just in shock. The staff is not up to customers. Especially the waiter Nikolai, who apparently does not know at all about how to work, about what restaurant service is. Well, for example, I suggested eating a barbecue from a common dish, saying why do you need plates. He was very rude, answering a question with a question. The service has become slow. It's a pity! It's good that the kitchen has remained at the same excellent level, but because of the staff, I don't want to go in. Dear owners of the establishment, why do you need such staff? By the way, the waiter wasn't sober yet. It is a pity that being here every year, something has changed in an unpleasant way

Very tasty home cooking! We were here in the afternoon on the terrace on the 2nd floor and by the road - it's not hot comfortably, the cafe is located right by the sea. Very polite staff! In the evening, we met a beautiful sunset on the terrace, live music, the singer had a very beautiful retro vocal, and the retro repertoire created the atmosphere of this place! The breakfasts are very tasty! Large portions of dishes!

I really liked the cafe, it is small, cozy, there is a landing both on the street under huge trees, and indoors with a magnificent view of the sea. We liked everything that was taken from the menu, it was delicious, the portions were large, fast serving, which is a rarity in Abkhazia. A wonderful young man, a waiter, so cordially welcomed, planted, consulted on the menu, it is clear that from the heart, he directly lifted our spirits in the morning.

The Calypso Cafe is a godsend. We had a rest in Gagra for the May holidays. We decided to celebrate our arrival at the cafe. We went to Calypso and did not lose. The view on the veranda is amazing. Those who are cold are offered blankets. Unobtrusive music. Beautiful branded dishes, delicious food and homemade wine. Salads, hot dishes - large portions. The cocktails are amazing. The only sadness was that not all the dishes from the menu could be ordered, but we were not particularly upset. The waiters are trying very hard to please. The service is fast. Ilya tried his best for us, thank him very much! The prices are average. Dinner for three with wine cost us 4000 rubles. You can pay by transfer or in cash. I advise everyone who has not been, to visit, and we will definitely come back again.

I don't understand why they give all 5 stars here. We came to dinner based on the reviews, but were very disappointed. We were on the terrace on the second floor. The music is playing so loud that you can't hear what the husband was talking about.
We ordered milkshakes, khinkali and a hot frying pan.
The cocktails are sweet and clearly diluted with water, or the ice cream is of poor quality! Khinkali - I've never eaten such a nightmare in my life. The meat is sour, tasteless, there is no juice in them, it is spicy. The frying pan is also a separate topic. Half of the pan is oil, you can see it in the photo.
We gave 2,300 rubles for disgusting dishes.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

If you are in Gagra, do not pass this place by. Everything is fine here, the food, the service, the surroundings. Insanely delicious food, huge portions for a budget price tag! We took a lot of things in this institution, we liked absolutely everything😍 We come here almost the whole vacation. In the evenings, you can sit on the second floor and enjoy the sea views. After last year's vacation with a friend in beautiful Abkhazia, we realized for sure that the vacation would not have turned out like this without the beautiful Calypso. What do we know about this term other than the elements from the movie with Jack Sparrow? Here, personally, the edges have opened up to me. Gastronomic. People, they make a real powerful borscht there. You will not miss your Homeland)))) and in general, the food, the beautiful view, the friendly atmosphere... perfect khinkali and homemade wine.
I would like to express my gratitude to the waiter Garik. The management still had to find such a professional. Courteous, attentive and charismatic. Imagine, a year later, I remember his name and the jokes with which he amused vacationers. And I'm a blonde. It's unnatural for us)))
In general, throwing aside the light flair of the review, I will say according to the classics: if you are vacationing in Gagra, comrades, come to Calypso. Here they give happiness on a saucer to tourists.

I do not advise you to go to this cafe, there are others better)
we came together, there were a maximum of 10 people in the cafe.
We have been waiting for food and drinks for a very long time. French fries were brought, thawed and frozen 10 times for sure! after I finished it, the waiter brought ketchup to her... we also ordered strips, because half of the menu just wasn't there, no soups, no nuggets...
they brought strips (2 photos), the breading is such that it can't be chewed, there is very little meat.
my opponent was served a salad of fried eggplant. they were basically tasteless...
next, they brought a "boat", there was literally a raw egg, as well as a half-baked dough.
We also took trout, but with us.
my relative did not dare to try it.
I'm not talking about the waiter, whether he's an intern or something. he is not literate at all, he does not understand the menu.
the table is wiped, but it's still dirty, I don't even want to know about the dishes.
the impressions are negative, despite the good reviews. I definitely do not recommend it!

Honestly, I don't know why there are 5 stars here) The food is so-so, there are delicious dishes, but specifically I took cheburek with meat and I will say that in old Gagra there are better places with delicious chebureks, since the minced meat was over-salted, the prices are not very expensive, for this I give you 1 star!) The staff is rude and behaves inappropriately, and alcohol is diluted here and apparently with tap water, since in the evening, I apologize for the details, I hugged the toilet bowl😊

It so happened that in the first days of rest we went to this place to have a snack, as a result we sat down for 6 hours). And after that, any other feeling became repulsive, I wanted to return to Calypso.
The staff is top notch, the guys are pleasant, friendly, attentive.
The food is super, the wine is homemade from the owner - mmmmmm. They even took it with them.
The price is much more reasonable than any other institution.
Sea view, spend the sunset with a glass of wine in your hands - you are in Calypso.
Eating to the sound of the waves is for you in Calypso.

Of all the cafes nearby, we liked it the most here.
And the atmosphere, the sea view is simply gorgeous, and the food, especially caesar with shrimp, khinkali, soups, grilled meat and non-alcoholic cocktails, and the staff, especially the waiter Garik, is a very polite, cheerful employee who can really find the right approach to each guest.
It was also unexpectedly pleasantly surprised that 10% of the total amount for service is not added to the check by default, as in all other establishments.
Definitely 5 stars.

We stopped by to eat on September 7, 2024 in Calypso, the location is successful, but the kitchen is terrible: French fries - dry potatoes, lula kebab with the smell of rotten meat, pork neck kebab is a little damp. But the most terrible thing is the pizza, as if it was bought in a store and heated in a microwave with a bunch of incomprehensible sauce, the sausage on it is no longer the first freshness and a century ago, but looks just disgusting. The only thing I liked was homemade compote.
The impression is spoiled, the chef of this cafe would like to tear off his hands.

One of the few places where 10% service fee is not immediately added to the bill, tips are at your discretion. We were a big company and ordered many different dishes: opinions were divided. From "normal" to "everything is delicious." WiFi, music (no live music). But the sea view decides everything!!!

We ordered shish kebab, baked fish and wine at the restaurant a week ago.
They do not know how to cook fish, they brought it not baked-they asked to redo it, the result is the same. Well okay.
But what spoiled the impression most of all was that when we ordered homemade wine with us, as it turned out later, it was not at all the wine that we drank there, but an outright bormat - poisoning and a spoiled impression of such hospitality.
