Leningrad Zoo in Saint Petersburg has a great atmosphere and well managed facilities. However, many animals such as tiger, giraffe, puma and polar bear are kept alone in single pair rather than with a male and female companion. This practice feels cruel and unnatural, as these animals need social interaction and big space. While the zoo itself is impressive, improving animal welfare by providing proper companionship & atmosphere like jungle make it even better.

This place offers a variety of creatures. This place is fun and informative at the same time. Try visiting in summers. I visited the zoo just after visiting oceanarium and was feeling stupid to waste time and money on oceanarium. I would suggest not to waste money on oceanarium instead visit this zoo.
