The Mariinsky Palace was built in 1750-1755 by the design of the chief court architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli on the orders of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. The daughter of Peter I personally chose the place for the construction of the palace in the Pechersk part of Kiev.

The palace is beautiful, but the fence spoils it.The grille would look better
