One of the best all-inclusive hotels in Varadero. It is located 30 km from Varadero airport, a taxi is $ 30 and on the road about 30 minutes. The hotel chain is located on the spit and is surrounded by the ocean on both sides. 1. Rooms. From what I managed to see, I will highlight 3 levels of renovation: colonial style (bathtub), modern (shower) and supermodern (bathtub). I did not choose a room, because I only spent the night there)). You can immediately buy the Level Level, this is the 5th floor, +$25 per person per day. Of the advantages of the latter: its own additional bar, a separate place on the beach, a late separate transfer to the airport.
In each room: air conditioning, safe, TV, tea and coffee group, refrigerator, hair dryer, 1.5 liters of water. I didn't have a bathrobe and slippers in my modern room.
2. Cleaning. Daily with a change of towels. Most importantly, remember: everything that is left on the bed is perceived as a gift, including negligees, etc.
3. Food. The most diverse, including jamon 2 times a day). Of the features: meat and fish are fried in front of you, you have to wait. Cheeses and sausages are served by the girls at your request. The fruits were watermelon, mango, papaya, guava. The ice cream is very tasty. There is a snack bar that is open around the clock. There are 4 a la carte restaurants, you can visit 1 time for up to 14 days, if > 14, then 2 times. The entry at the reception is on the right. Pay attention to the dress code in one of them).
There are many bars where a variety of cocktails are prepared: the worst is closer to the beach, the best is in the bar where the evening program (hello Dialena 🥰).

5. It is better to take both $ and € money. It is better to change it to pesos from the guides, the best course that I managed to change: $ 1 - 385 pesos.
6. Beach: excellent, wide, lots of sun beds available. You can ride a catamaran and sail for free (every day for 30 minutes). At the end of the beach is Villa Dupont, entrance is $ 5, admission is free to the bar, cocktails are great there and you can meet a gorgeous sunset.

We flew across the ocean. We didn't expect much from the kitchen and service. But we were satisfied with everything. They never went hungry: pork, beef, chicken, several types of fish, cheeses, a variety of side dishes, vegetables, herbs ... Fruits disappointed (they were in September) bland, absolutely not sweet. Everything is fine with alcohol in bars-my head has never hurt.

The hotel is not new. The furniture is old, as many people like to say: "From a dustpan!". And what, is it not "out of the scoop" in Cuba??? But! You must understand where you are going and why! Compared to other Varadero hotels, Melia is very different in terms of conditions!
1) One of the main things is food! Read the reviews for other hotels - vacationers there lost weight during the vacation, because there was nothing to eat! In Melia, there is always food! And good food (meat, cheeses, sausages, etc.)!
2) All the questions that tourists have, the hotel staff solved quickly and friendly! I would especially like to mention Barbara (Russian-speaking curator). Thanks a lot!!!
3) Animation. Every evening, the hotel hosts various entertainment programs! You won't be bored! Therefore, it is not necessary to go to Varadero.
BOTTOM LINE: the food is there, the rooms are clean, even the service is on the level! I posted a lot of videos on my YouTube channel ("Wolverine Fight Club"). We were in Melia (with the whole family and children), in June 2023 and July 2024. And most likely, we will go there next year, and that says a lot))

We had a rest in Melia Varadero in the middle of March. We booked a room with a sea view in advance and were very satisfied. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows, and the sea is visible as soon as you open the door to the room. The beauty is amazing!
I really liked the hotel. Everything is clean. The room has high-quality cleaning and linen change daily. We were quite satisfied with the food. Delicious cheeses, jamon, papaya and sometimes other fruits. Ice cream, desserts are plentiful. Hot snacks are not the most delicious, but you can find something suitable for yourself.
The staff at the hotel is friendly, but at the same time not intrusive. Rest comfortably.
The beach is wide, sandy, the entrance to the water is gentle. Special shoes are not needed. The water is clean, it is already warm in March. There are plenty of sun beds. It will not be difficult to find a place even under the sun, even in the shade. Beach towels are provided.
The hotel hosts some themed entertainment events every day. You can listen to music, learn how to dance salsa. Once a week, the hotel pampers its guests by hosting Cuba Day. Lunch is served outdoors, the entire hotel area is decorated with bright flags, artists, dancers and even retro cars. It's a lot of fun, emotional and incredibly beautiful, because it's all under palm trees on the ocean!
There is Internet in the hotel and even in places on the territory, but it is very weak, and the signal is constantly lost. This is probably the only disadvantage of the hotel. For serious work, it is better to purchase a local SIM card. And an undeniable plus is the opportunity to pay for your stay with a Mir card.

Volleyball court, animation, exercise in the ocean, salsa lessons on the beach. There is a beach bar, a snack bar by the pool. A la carte restaurant, by appointment, different cuisine every day. The territory is not large, but you can't let a child go alone, because yachts, marina. The food is varied, a lot of meat, chicken, fish. Minus - there are practically no usual cucumbers and absolutely no tomatoes. But Spanish jamon - at least throw it away. Tuesdays are Cuban Day. For lunch, a mountain of meat and fish is baked on the lawn. There are no problems with alcohol either. Lots of Spanish champagne and dry. And rum, of course. The beach right in front of the hotel is not very: slippery and sometimes sharp seashell. One smart Canadian woman of 45 years old got right into the ocean here. The result - four amigos had to pull the lady ashore, a broken leg. Went to rest🤷♂️. Therefore, I recommend walking two hundred meters to the left, to Melia las Americas, the benefit of the beach is shared. What else? Free use of boards, pitching, catamarans, but for half an hour per brother, then for money. Although somehow I didn't observe the queue of those wishing. The food is varied, we had enough of everything. Shrimp, chicken, various meats, ham, sausages, cheeses, eggs. The fruits were papaya and guava daily, rarely bananas. There was ice cream every day. Drinks and rum just flow like a river. Pina colada is very tasty.
Room service was daily, clean, towels are changed daily. Upon arrival, a set (shampoo, gel, soap) is given. Our iron was broken, and it was quickly replaced upon request.
Russian Russian-speaking staff is available, in general, many Cubans understand and speak Russian.
There are several A la Carte restaurants. I must say right away, I was not impressed!! We were in Japanese and Mexican. It's not tasty. After them, we went to the hotel restaurant, we wanted a normal delicious meal :) 😀

Плюсы: Ухоженная территория,много баров и ресторанов,приветливый персонал,помогут с любой проблемой. Шведский стол хороший( по меркам Кубы) ,было всё, мямо,рыба,фрукты,мороженое,пирожное,булки,колбасы,сыры и многое другое. Всё отлично.
Минусы: часто встречалась грязная посуда,тарелки плохо промытые ,кружки...
Лично для меня больше минусов не было)

Yes, the room stock is a little outdated, but the ocean and the view decide in this case and you no longer pay attention to the little things. The food is excellent, ham was given every day, all sorts of different cheeses, and much more, of course. There are no questions about nutrition at all. I visited this hotel ten years ago. During this time, he has not become younger. In principle, as everywhere else, something is being updated. Something is decaying. According to the level system (much more expensive), they give out fresh rooms with modern interiors and fresh furniture. They open access to the rooftop bar and breakfast in one of the alakards. For "Alyonka" and $ 50 at the entrance, they give a room with a good view.
The fourth floor is now completely covered with curtains. It's probably under repair. It does not spoil the general appearance. The hotel looks very impressive both inside and out.
The beach is very nice. The hotel was chosen for him. It was not possible to fully enjoy the sea. A three-day storm brought millions of Portuguese ships. But last time I came, I didn't get out of the water.
The contingent is mostly calm, not particularly rich and middle-aged. They drink quietly and go to bed early. There is actually no animation. The disco consists of two or three very old Canadians.
Overall, the hotel is very cozy, despite the massive building. Lots of greenery. In the evening, incredibly beautiful views from the main terrace and from the high reef that it overlooks.
The pool is not particularly large. Half of it is a frog house. But everything is nominally there, a bar, chairs in the water, something like a Jacuzzi in the center.
The shopping center located right next to it does not interfere in any way. It is, by our standards, small and half-empty. At the same time, you can buy a sim card or a swimsuit.
The food is passable. For Cuba, I must say, they are very well fed. The choice is large and not particularly stingy. Fish, shrimp, steaks are eaten every day. But fans of Turkish buffets are unlikely to be satisfied. Fruits are seasonal, but not all. For example, there are mangoes and tangerines on the market. There are none in the restaurant. There are no fresh juices at all now, which is sad, there used to be. Now it's just Zuko and Jupi. Pour some wine and rum. But older than 7 years are no longer offered. In general, we didn't need to. We were away most of the time.
The hotel has a 24-hour cafe. It's not worth eating in it at all. Leftovers from the main restaurant are taken there, it stands on the tables for days and spoils. Usually, the problems are visible to the naked eye, but a couple of times we still got caught. And at night they ate something stale on the road.
It is not far from the center of Varadero. But you can't walk. A taxi is standard for $ 10. If you are a lonely traveler and you have time, wait at the bus stop for a double-decker bus for $ 5. He'll bring you back. It will be cheaper for the company to take a car. Retro or modern, it doesn't matter. The price is one.

It's not my first time living in hotels and not every hotel has an ocean. By the way, there is also a swimming pool. There is rum. Lots of rum. There is a lot of rum, so there is a danger of not seeing the ocean at all. And the pool, too. It is not a little important to note - they feed. So it will be possible to eat. Oh, yes, they will also give you a room in the hotel, you don't have to sleep on the sun beds, but there are those who prefer something else. Let me remind you, there is a lot of rum here.

Территория отеля очень маленькая как и пляж, заход в море (точнее Мексиканский залив) с пляжа соседнего отеля Мелия лас Америкас.Отель требует ремонта, стандартные номера многие «убитые», с трудом тянут на троечку, до второго этажа сильный запах еды из столовой, а также сырости. Более менее номера в категории «Левел». По питанию довольно разнообразно, в основном ресторане-очереди за горячим и мороженым. Официанты не очень расторопны.

There are enough sun beds. The food is more than decent. They try very hard. The people are wonderful. Sea view, for an additional fee, gorgeous! I took it, I didn't regret it. Next to the Plaza America shopping Center hotel, there is an office on the 2nd floor of this kind, you can buy a SIM card. The connection is good.

There is everything to eat, but apparently there are not enough spices, or just a specific cuisine, a huge selection of cheeses, sausages, ham. There were no elementary tomatoes, cucumbers, greens in general are rare. Who loves potato dishes, you will be disappointed, imported fries, mashed potatoes from powder. For understanding, potatoes are not grown on Liberty Island. There is meat, fish, but everything is tasteless, apparently a feature of the national cuisine, although for me, it is difficult to spoil the meat. For alcohol, the choice is impressive and as for me, everything is not of poor quality. Cocktails, their huge assortment, but it all depends on how the bartender's hand will fall. It happens very much, and sometimes you won't even drink. Juices, wine, decent quality, except tomato, pour half a glass of juice and dilute with water to full, here is a drink served, in factory packaging. With tomatoes, everything is difficult there. There is animation, but I won't say the same as in Turkey and Egypt. A good company of compatriots brightens up these shortcomings. Beach. It is there, but the coastline is narrow and there is not a good entry into the ocean everywhere, you have to go by metro 400-500 from the hotel. And the ocean was dirty, apparently from the storm, algae were constantly floating. Despite all this, I would love to go back there again.
