We were very satisfied with this hotel. Although, when I was choosing a hotel, one travel agent dissuaded me and said various nasty things, but I still bought Melia Varadero. For an additional fee, I was given a gorgeous view room. Everything is clean, the view is awesome simple. Yes, the room stock is a little outdated, but the ocean and the view decide in this case and you no longer pay attention to the little things. The food is excellent, ham was given every day, all sorts of different cheeses, and much more, of course. There are no questions about nutrition at all. I visited this hotel ten years ago. During this time, he has not become younger. In principle, as everywhere else, something is being updated. Something is decaying. According to the level system (much more expensive), they give out fresh rooms with modern interiors and fresh furniture. They open access to the rooftop bar and breakfast in one of the alakards. For "Alyonka" and $ 50 at the entrance, they give a room with a good view. The fourth floor is now completely covered with curtains. It's probably under repair. It does not spoil the general appearance. The hotel looks very impressive both inside and out. The beach is very nice. The hotel was chosen for him. It was not possible to fully enjoy the sea. A three-day storm brought millions of Portuguese ships. But last time I came, I didn't get out of the water. The contingent is mostly calm, not particularly rich and middle-aged. They drink quietly and go to bed early. There is actually no animation. The disco consists of two or three very old Canadians. Overall, the hotel is very cozy, despite the massive building. Lots of greenery. In the evening, incredibly beautiful views from the main terrace and from the high reef that it overlooks. The pool is not particularly large. Half of it is a frog house. But everything is nominally there, a bar, chairs in the water, something like a Jacuzzi in the center. The shopping center located right next to it does not interfere in any way. It is, by our standards, small and half-empty. At the same time, you can buy a sim card or a swimsuit. The food is passable. For Cuba, I must say, they are very well fed. The choice is large and not particularly stingy. Fish, shrimp, steaks are eaten every day. But fans of Turkish buffets are unlikely to be satisfied. Fruits are seasonal, but not all. For example, there are mangoes and tangerines on the market. There are none in the restaurant. There are no fresh juices at all now, which is sad, there used to be. Now it's just Zuko and Jupi. Pour some wine and rum. But older than 7 years are no longer offered. In general, we didn't need to. We were away most of the time. The hotel has a 24-hour cafe. It's not worth eating in it at all. Leftovers from the main restaurant are taken there, it stands on the tables for days and spoils. Usually, the problems are visible to the naked eye, but a couple of times we still got caught. And at night they ate something stale on the road. It is not far from the center of Varadero. But you can't walk. A taxi is standard for $ 10. If you are a lonely traveler and you have time, wait at the bus stop for a double-decker bus for $ 5. He'll bring you back. It will be cheaper for the company to take a car. Retro or modern, it doesn't matter. The price is one.

For Cuba, this is an honest 5 stars. For the Dominican Republic or Maldives 3. There are at least two beaches there. There were no elementary tomatoes, cucumbers, greens in general are rare. Who loves potato dishes, you will be disappointed, imported fries, mashed potatoes from powder. For understanding, potatoes are not grown on Liberty Island. There is meat, fish, but everything is tasteless, apparently a feature of the national cuisine, although for me, it is difficult to spoil the meat. For alcohol, the choice is impressive and as for me, everything is not of poor quality. Cocktails, their huge assortment, but it all depends on how the bartender's hand will fall. It happens very much, and sometimes you won't even drink. Juices, wine, decent quality, except tomato, pour half a glass of juice and dilute with water to full, here is a drink served, in factory packaging. With tomatoes, everything is difficult there. There is animation, but I won't say the same as in Turkey and Egypt. A good company of compatriots brightens up these shortcomings. Beach. It is there, but the coastline is narrow and there is not a good entry into the ocean everywhere, you have to go by metro 400-500 from the hotel. Nice hotel. Not five stars, as stated, but a solid four. Lived in a standard room. Everything you need for temporary residence is available. The furniture is old-fashioned, but this does not spoil the impression, at least for people over forty. Cubans are very friendly. Those who are older even speak Russian to one degree or another. On TV, even the 1 Russian channel, however, works somewhere from six in the morning to six in the evening. Apparently, while the satellite is hanging. But there are questions for Roscosmos. The food is varied, a lot of meat, chicken, fish. Minus - there are practically no usual cucumbers and absolutely no tomatoes. But Spanish jamon - at least throw it away. Tuesdays are Cuban Day. For lunch, a mountain of meat and fish is baked on the lawn. There are no problems with alcohol either. Lots of Spanish champagne and dry. And rum, of course. The beach right in front of the hotel is not very: slippery and sometimes sharp seashell. One smart Canadian woman of 45 years old got right into the ocean here. The result - four amigos had to pull the lady ashore, a broken leg. Went to rest🤷♂️. Therefore, I recommend walking two hundred meters to the left, to Melia las Americas, the benefit of the beach is shared. What else? Free use of boards, pitching, catamarans, but for half an hour per brother, then for money. Although somehow I didn't observe the queue of those wishing. There are many of our guests, Spaniards, Poles, Europeans. But no problem, everyone is friendly and friendly. I recommend it!
