The sign represents a rather noticeable small architectural form in the form of a small column. There are inscriptions on the distances from this place on Lenin Square in Gomel to some cities. We examined and read it. Interesting.

What a column! Distances to other major cities located along the highways are counted from it. The following background information can be read on it:
to Minsk - 314 km,
to Bryansk - 265 km,
to Chernihiv - 110 km.
If you think about it, it's clear what could have been added on this index column. The distance to the southern city was marked on E-95, it was worth specifying the distance to the northern one (to Mogilev - 180 km), along the highway to the west: to Kobrin - 480 km. Strictly speaking, it is not necessary to indicate the distance from Gomel to Brest (530 km) on this indicator, since the direct highway goes to Kobrin, after which it closes with the Moscow - Brest highway (Soyuz M 1), and there is already its own distance countdown.

An unusual appearance, in Minsk 0km the distance to Gomel is 315km, and in Gomel 0km the distance to Minsk is indicated as 314km.

These objects definitely do not deserve special attention , because they carry nothing but useless information . The building of the main post office and the place in front of it are imbued with Sovkovian minimalism and the scarcity of thinking of designers and decorators .
