The castle in Zaslavl was among the first bastion-type buildings in Belarus. It was built in the middle of the 16th century on a hill in the northern part of the city. The quadrangular structure was surrounded by a deep moat. Thanks to the system of ponds on the Knyaginka River, the water level rose and the castle became an island fortification. Only a fragment of the gate wall near the southeastern bastion has survived to this day.

In general, visiting the city of Zaslavl left a very pleasant impression. The ruins on the city rampart are the only thing that disappointed. They are covered with a visor to protect them from destruction. But this visor is located so low that you cannot see the masonry or the inscription about this exhibit standing tall. You have to bend over, as they say, to the death. This is very inconvenient and generally makes this relic quite unsightly.
