I was with friends. They rented a separate room for three with their own kitchen and bathroom.
The building is old, when you walk along the first floor and see open rooms with guests, it feels like there is a blockade in the city and people are living as best they can. Our room, although you can call it a room, looks much more decent. They also give out towels.
Cons: they gave blankets, towels and sheets for three, but only two pillows, for three in a five-bed room - how so? I asked to add, they forgot to go, I had to take an extra (surprisingly) blanket and use it as a pillow, a dirty hob, but we didn't need it, there is no soap in the bathroom and it is a little dirty in the shower cabin - we haven't been carefully in all corners for a long time, the shower watering can is wrapped up and holds very poorly in the wall holder - it's broken and doesn't fit. But these are all small things for such a price, that's what the receptionist who checked us in yelled at us and did not want to let us out of the hostel at 0 o'clock, explaining that they have a rule and laws such that you need to walk during the day, not at night, although this was not indicated anywhere when booking and checking in, and there are no such laws in Latvia. She yelled, but then let her out and said she wouldn't let us back in before 6 a.m., even though we arrived at 5 a.m. and the door was wide open.
Because of this, I lowered two stars.
And so I advise you: on a budget, in the city center.
