It's just a fantastic place, words can't describe it - you need to see it! 120 years ago, it was a cave and after an earthquake, the ceiling collapsed, revealing a waterfall falling on a 15m stalagmite, which is still growing. We got there by car, the road has not been repaired since the Soviet era: non-access pits / potholes alternate with sections of a normal road 100-200 m. We drove to Tsabala and left the car near the Russian military base, as the road became very bad further on, there is a risk of puncturing the crankcase. We walked 7 km from Tsabal to the turn 43.035502, 41.323776 (red sign), through the village, a clearing with ditches, and then went down to the trail to the waterfall. This is the way to view the waterfall from below. We were with a 7-year-old child, the walk was long but simple, there were few cars on the road. On the way to the waterfall, keep to the lower path on the map (do not climb the stairs in the middle) and look at the red arrows. In the last section, before descending into the canyon, there is a shelf 60 cm wide and a 40-meter drop to the Bridal Veil waterfall, 50 meters long - very (!!!) a dangerous place without railings/ ropes, a fall is certain death. It is necessary to go with tracking sticks. There are wet rocks and a shallow river at the bottom of the canyon, and sticks will help you overcome them. It will be dangerous for those who are not experienced in mountain hiking in such conditions, there is a risk of twisting / breaking their leg or, God forbid, falling off the shelf.

Keep in mind that the descent into the gorge in the heat is not for people with heart disease! An earthen path of 250 meters at an angle of 45gr. Now about the road: it's terrible! And the closer to the finish line in the village of Amtkel, the worse it gets! On puzoterki with a short base - definitely not to meddle! In the village, a peasant offered tangerine juice, honey, and cheese. We took the juice (it's fine) and nuts in honey (the price is normal).

We drove sedans, did not get two kilometers, the road became completely bad, left the cars on the road and walked. 43.027278, 41.268794 In this place you can rent a UAZ, it will be cheaper than taking it from the sea, there is also the last grocery store. The most interesting thing is further there are two places from where you can go 43.028482, 41.328741, the other is a little further. There is a small cafe in this place, barbecue is fried. The place of the waterfalls itself is located at the bottom. It is very difficult to descend, and it is even more difficult to climb - sneakers are required. In the summer, the riverbed dries up and there is a small shower from a height, but even along the riverbed it is very interesting to walk. Then there is a deep river. There are three caves that are not equipped for tourists, they are flooded, you can walk 200-300 meters, then go deep and you need equipment.

We were in June 2024. Very contradictory impressions remained. One of the advantages is nature. The tour is a solid minus. A lot depends on the guide. He told us that he would not shout at the whole car. I just brought them in and dropped them off. Take pictures and let's move on. For some reason, the announcement for the excursion does not warn about shoes, which are necessary, the descent for us, people 50+, turned out to be very difficult, and the ascent is even worse, to be honest, we did not expect such a march. They came, but there was no waterfall, and then it turned out that it was dry-the cherry on the cake. The whole tour was at a kind of frenzied pace. Considering that we had lunch in a cafe, the whole tour took us 6 hours.

We were here in early July 2023. We got there in a rented CR-V, the road for the crossover is normal, passable, but they still charged us a fine of 5000 rubles. For going to a prohibited location. But perhaps it was worth it. In our opinion, this is the most beautiful place where we have been in Abkhazia and where they did not charge us for visiting, which even surprised us. We were alone, we even managed to swim in the waterfall. The bends of the canyon are impressive, we have never seen such a thing anywhere else. Plants, white stones, ledges of rocks, as if a landscape designer had worked there. This must be seen, the photo does not convey the fabulousness of the landscape. And the air is so fresh and saturated. The descent is quite steep, but a family with an infant and a 2-year-old child was leaving in front of us. So if you carefully, slowly, it is possible for everyone to go down and climb.

A magnificent view, if you go down to the waterfall, opens the best, the most epic of what I have seen in Abkhazia (my personal subjective assessment). First of all, I mean the pile of giant stones and the shape of the canyon walls. Positive: there are almost no people, garbage, equipped descent down Important: we highly do not recommend going there by car (we tried it on a Honda fit). Unfortunately, the road is very bad, slightly less than completely consisting of pits of varying degrees of depth. A road that can turn into a painful snail traffic with constant detour of these pits and the risk of damaging the car. Cons: very bad road; you need to pay extra money for delivery to the place or come up with something with the rental of a passable car They say that some of the rental services do not put GPS sensors and theoretically it is possible to drive their cars, but it hurts. By the way, on maps.me it shows an alternative path to the waterfall , but it is not worth going along it, because it is very overgrown and not interesting

I cannot appreciate the waterfall itself, since we simply did not reach it a kilometer because of the huge pit, and did not dare to leave the car (kia soul) on this "road" in the wilderness. We drove about 25 km for 2 hours in one direction, the road is very badly broken, and even if we drive carefully, it will not work everywhere. Jeeps were passing by, take a ride to the waterfall on them, do not torment your car.

We were at the Shakuran waterfall in early May. It is impossible to get here by public transport. First, a jeep ride, and then 2 kilometers on foot through the subtropical forest. Since we were after the rain, the descent to the waterfall was not so easy. But the waterfall itself is magnificent. The jet falls from a height of 30-35 meters, somewhere in the middle of the fall, the jet breaks on a large stone and flows down from it in dozens of jets.

We were in August 2022, the place is amazingly beautiful, an aesthetic pleasure! The waterfall is really dry as a month (since July the water has been running out there), but there is something to see. Bungee jumping, even scary to watch)) Entrance is free, guarded parking is 100₽. Cafe , apiary and winery. Honey was taken there, of all the tried, this honey is the most delicious and, as the owner said, the most natural, even with documents and prizes.

I will add that there is not only a waterfall, but a fairly large lake and you can swim in it, who is not afraid of cold water. Of course, there are more powerful waterfalls, but this one is beautiful in its own way. Water falls from a great height, not only in a jet but also millions of drops into a huge enclosed space into which the sun's rays penetrate through the crowns of trees. The drops sparkle magically. You need to see it with your own eyes.
