Antique Side is suitable for those who like to climb ancient ruins) there are also various cafes and shops on the coast. There are free public toilets, clean. We were satisfied with the trip. I was pleased with the transport accessibility, the bus station is right at the beginning of the tourist route. You need to go early in the morning or in the evening, it's very hot in summer)

There is a very interesting building in the old town of Side, the Agora. This was the name of the largest of the market squares in Ancient Greece: There were meetings going on, there was a trade. There were tents, temples, special rooms for artisans and much more. And along the perimeter of the Agora, a small fence was fenced off from the city — exactly as we see it now in the markets.
The agora in Side is a square, the date of construction is the second century. There were shopping malls here, but, of course, they have not been preserved: only the foundation remains of them.
Nowadays, only the foundations of the premises that served the shopping malls and the premises for merchants themselves remain. These rows are placed in the shape of the letter "P", the free side was near the Roman Theater.
There was a special exit from the west, it led to the street. At the same time, the shops near the shopping malls were made like this: some went out onto the street, and others onto the square.
During the heyday of the Roman Empire, almost everything could be bought on the Agora: from clothes and food to slaves.
To understand what used to exist in the center of the Agora, archaeologists were helped by a coin with an image of a shopping area: there was a temple building of the goddess of fortune Tyukhe. The roof of the temple was made in the form of a pyramid, which had 12 sides. An image of Sagittarius, Scorpio and other zodiac signs was found on the roof.
If you really want to take a look at the landmark of the Agora, which has reached our days in almost unchanged condition, then you should pay attention to the so-called latrine, or toilet. It was a semicircular hall with marble that lined the walls. Curiously, of all that has been preserved in the Agora, the public toilet turned out to be the most intact, and for 24 people.
But that's not all: the trading Agora had access to the city, with the walls of Philip Attias. The urban agora, made in the shape of a square, was smaller in area. Apparently, because only urban issues were solved here, but one thing is clear from the commercial purpose of the square: slaves were traded here.
The entire Agora complex is included in the so-called "fields of ruins". The rest is the Byzantine Basilica and the library. All these buildings belong to the ancient Side, where you can study the history of the Roman Empire.
