A place that is filled with energy. You don't have to be a Muslim to feel this. By the way, there is a delicious restaurant nearby where you can try real Turkish apple tea and delicious baklava ☕️

It's a wonderful place! Large clean area, there is a free toilet. The mosque itself has a TV guide in Russian. The mosque itself and the tombs are very beautiful. It was interesting to see the local cemetery, roses are already blooming here in April. Amazing view of the Bosphorus!
Our self-guided tour was pleasantly complemented by a canteen for our own (this is no longer on the territory of the complex, but literally behind the wall). For 580 lire, we got lunch for two: two good portions of fried chicken pieces (like goulash, but without sauce), a portion of chorba and two bowls of stewed vegetables.

One of my favorite places in Istanbul. Great views and atmosphere!
The Suleymaniye Mosque is the second largest and, until its opening in 2019, the first mosque in Istanbul. It is located in the old part of the city, in the Vefa district.
The mosque was built by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent by architect Sinan in 1550-1557. The dome is 53 meters high and 27.5 meters in diameter.
It's all very majestic.
Suleymaniye is a huge complex with schools (madrasas), a hammam, kitchens, a library, an observatory and the crypt of architect Sinan. The total area of the territory is about 70 thousand m2.
There is a cemetery in the courtyard of the mosque, and Suleiman himself is buried here in two neighboring mausoleums.

It's a beautiful, beautiful place! A magnificent mosque.
Everything is clean, you can see that they keep it clean.
Definitely worth a visit
For fans of the Magnificent Century, it 's a head - scratcher . 😬🙈
Admission to the mosque is free, if you want to attend the service, then check the schedule in advance.
There is a magnificent view of the Bosphorus and the city nearby.
The tomb of Suleiman and Hurrem, as well as their children, is also located on the territory.

The Suleymaniye Mosque is a real pearl of Istanbul and one of the most impressive monuments of Ottoman architecture. The majestic building of the 16th century impresses with its scale: four minarets rush into the sky to a height of more than 70 meters, and a huge dome seems to float in the air.
The mosque's interior is stunning in its harmony and sophistication. The stained glass windows are especially impressive, through which soft light pours, creating an amazing play of colors on the walls and floor. Elegant calligraphy, geometric patterns and delicate painting - all the decorative elements are thought out to the smallest detail.
Suleymaniye is not just a mosque, but an entire architectural complex built in 1557 by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Chief architect Sinan has created a real masterpiece here, where every detail is thought out to the smallest detail. The complex includes a hospital, a madrasa, a library and a hammam - a real city within a city!
The courtyard with a fountain for ablutions deserves special mention - an atmosphere of peace and tranquility reigns here.
Important tips:
- Come early in the morning to avoid the crowds of tourists
- Be sure to take a headscarf to cover the head (for women)
- Dress modestly, covering your knees and shoulders
- Don't forget to visit the tomb of Suleiman the Magnificent
The mosque is located on one of the seven hills of Istanbul, offering stunning views of the Bosphorus and the city. Make sure to reach the observation deck!

Harmony of spirit and beauty
One of the most vivid impressions of my trip is the Suleymaniye Mosque. It is a place of incredible beauty and power. It was there that I felt a real unity with God. During the prayer, tears rolled down my cheeks by themselves — it touched my soul so deeply.
The architecture is amazing — the grandeur, harmony and silence in which time seems to freeze. Nearby are the graves of Sultan Suleiman and his daughter Mihrimah. Everything is saturated with history and a special light.
And somewhere in the distance, the Bosporus lapped like a quiet reminder of eternity.

The Suleymaniye Mosque is a must-see in Istanbul. This is not just a religious building, but a whole historical complex that takes you back to the era of the Ottoman Empire. One of the most beautiful and spiritual corners of the city!
The Suleymaniye Mosque is one of the most impressive places in Istanbul, which is definitely worth a visit. Built in the 16th century by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, it impresses with its scale and architectural perfection. The author of this masterpiece was the legendary Ottoman architect Sinan, who created a structure that is resistant even to strong earthquakes.
Architecture and interior — a high dome (more than 50 m), elegant stained glass windows, marble mihrab and minbar, as well as unique acoustics, thanks to which the voice of the imam can be heard anywhere in the mosque.
Historical significance — there are mausoleums of Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Hurrem Sultan (Roksolana), as well as the tomb of Sinan himself.
Panoramic view — The mosque's terrace offers stunning views of the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus.

The Suleymaniye Mosque is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in Istanbul. This is the second largest and, until 2019, the first mosque in the city, built by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century. There is a special atmosphere here.
The well-maintained courtyard of the mosque with a garden and terraces, which offer wonderful views of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn, creates a feeling of peace and tranquility. There are mausoleums on the territory of the courtyard, where Sultan Suleiman himself and his wife Hurrem are buried.
Every time I come to Istanbul, I make sure to take the time to visit the Suleymaniye Mosque. Here I always find harmony and inspiration, immersing myself in the atmosphere of the greatness of the Ottoman Empire and its rulers.

One of the most beautiful mosques in Istanbul.
It is open to the public for free (at least for now).
There is an observation deck with a magnificent view of the city.
Inside, everything is luxurious and, most importantly, friendly. The floor is heated, but tourists are lying on it on a cold March day.
The rules are still the same - take off your shoes and hide your hair.
Otherwise, you are very welcome here!

The Suleymaniye Mosque.
Oh, well, this is the joy and delight of all fans of the Magnificent Century series
After all, the most important characters of the series rest here.
And these are not the characters of the series, these are real people (these are the rulers) of the 16th century, by the way.
In general, in Istanbul (along the streets), moving by transport is not realistic, it takes hours to get out of your life, so on foot))) a hike up the hill!!!
Before the trip, the gym and the climbing path (for a couple of months), yes, yes,
and shoes,
trekking sneakers that would lock onto this coating with "teeth", in general, a fairy tale,
WELL, insurance,
because running over you on something, even on a cart, is the goal of every Turk))
I'm kidding, but such thoughts have visited..
So, about this place:
The beauty of the mosque is BEYOND words,
It's huge and in an incredibly beautiful place with a view of the Galata Bridge,
There are a lot of seagulls like mosquitoes in Altai in June)
We visited the mausoleum in which Sultan Suleiman himself is buried, but
unfortunately it was not possible to enter the mausoleum in which Hurrem is buried, it was closed.
We jumped up and took a picture of something through the window, but that's not it(
!!!!(November 2024) You can get to the mosque absolutely for free, unlike Sofia - it costs €25 per person, but this is a separate story.…
And if you read about Suleymaniye before visiting it,
how it was built and how much and by whom…
It's interesting to delve into history a little bit and not be in those times for a long time, believe me.…
DEFINITELY welcome to visit,
even if you haven't watched The Magnificent Century
after your trip to Istanbul.,
even men, well, in one word, so that it's not noticeable))),
Well, if you are not watching the series,
then the summary from the mouth of the second half will not refuse to hear.
Istanbul is a magical place.
We plan to tell you about all the places we saw in Istanbul and beyond.

One of the many beautiful locations in Istanbul.
It is convenient to get here from any area.
We recommend walking across the white bridge (where the metro stops) and climbing the streets into the hill. Only 15-20 minutes.
The way back is either through the Grand Bazaar or the metro/tram in any direction.
Beautiful territory and beautiful architecture. And most importantly - a great view point!!!
A selfie stick is a must, especially for an overview photo of the city.
A large and clean toilet.
There is a lunch break. Closes early.

After the "Magnificent Century," I dreamed of seeing this mosque and the mausoleums of Suleiman and Hurrem Sultan. A dream come true!
The mosque was big, there was carpet everywhere, and it was annoying that you had to take off your shoes everywhere, but it was cold enough outside and slapping your bare feet on cold marble wasn't much fun. But you need to show respect for someone else's religion.
The mosque is large and beautiful, the Sultan and his wife are buried in different tombs and tombstones unusual for Europeans.
It is wonderful that the mosque and mausoleums have been preserved since ancient times!
