This particular point is the temple of Apollo. The entire location is a religious oracle complex - a direct competitor to the Delphic Oracle, and most likely the original (primary) one, since Homer's Iliad, the oldest European work, says that Apollo is from here. There is a spring nearby where there is a spring of Python's blood, which Apollo killed. That's why there's a complex here. Once there lived a Pythian priestess (from the word Python) who gave advice to Octavian Augustus and Mark Anthony, hence the Pythia who gives advice to Neo in the movies. There is a Byzantine medieval monastery nearby, that is, the place did not lose its sacred meaning until the arrival of the Turks. Since this place is next to the place of work of Nicholas the Wonderworker, there is no doubt that he visited this sacred place. The "city of Sura" itself is on the mountain, by the road. It was probably a settlement of priests and a place of preparation for pilgrims before descending into the sacred grove. There are few foundations and mausoleums left there.
