The cathedral was built in 1821 in the classical style as the church of the Trinitarian monastery. After the monastery was closed in 1847, it was rebuilt as an Orthodox church. Hence the architectural features.
It was closed in 1930. In August 1941, it was opened, and the relics of St. Euphrosyne, Abbess of Polotsk, were transferred from the local anti-religious museum to the cathedral. Then, in the autumn of 1943, the relics were moved to St. Sophia Cathedral, but the cancer remained. He suffered greatly during the war and was recovering for a long time. A very unusual, beautiful cathedral. Be sure to visit.

The building of the Holy Intercession Cathedral is located in the central part of the city, next to the monument to E. Los. The cathedral is large, bright and sincere. I recommend a visit.
