I have never been to Greece, but I have slightly touched the Hellenistic culture in Armenia. There is a village of Garni not far from Yerevan, 28-30 km away. One of the tourist centers. He is known for two remarkable objects: man-made and natural. The first is a small ancient Greek temple built in the 1st century A.D. and dedicated to the god Mithras - the patron saint of contract, consent, sunlight (oh, I like this god!). The temple is small, very concise, reminded me of the reduced Parthenon. 24 columns of the Ionic order (I love his "lambs"- volutes))) on the capitals) indicate the time zones, as they said. After the adoption of Christianity in Armenia, only this pagan temple survived. But in 1676, a powerful earthquake completely destroyed the building, scattering fragments all over the river gorge. In the sixties and seventies of the 20th century, Soviet archaeologists and engineers reconstructed it with the active help of the population, who collected fragments from all over the territory. But there is another unique, this time a natural object - "basalt pillars". I remember walking to this place along the broken paving stones for about thirty minutes. But you can't forget what you saw there. I can't even describe the feeling, it just needs to be seen. A giant cluster of multimeter basalt "pencils" fascinates with its unearthly appearance. This geological monument is called "Symphony of stones", "Basalt organ". It is impossible to look away…

It's a very difficult road. If someone has health problems, it's better to think about it first than to go. Or take pills. Even in winter, the temple hits with its grandeur. Even though it was built in 1975, I mean, it was restored after the earthquake in 1679

The structure itself is nothing special. It looks like an acropolis. A very beautiful view of the mountains. Entrance is paid. There are 750 drams for Armenians and 1,500 for foreigners.
