Visiting this place is strictly mandatory for any tourist route. A very colorful place - candles, pottery, lack of cutlery, massive tables and chairs and cheerful, sharp-tongued, shouting in three languages innkeepers. Many years ago, in winter, I asked: "is there a pie with mushrooms?", to which they replied: "take it better with a carrot, otherwise you don't see that there is snow on the street."
I recommend trying seasonal (as it turned out) pies and moose and lentil chowder here. As an entertainment and skill test: a barrel of pickles and a stick with a nail - try to catch it.

A great national place.Hostess Henna is a fire, the kitchen is excellent, especially the soup has returned more than once!It is worth trying meat on the bone, as the Vikings ate.The place itself already gives an era, there is delicious national mulled wine, beer and cucumbers that everyone can catch with an improvised fork (funny), there are no appliances that give the charm and feeling of that era

We came to have lunch at this institution on 13.07. With a good positive mood. Wonderful environment, helpful, kind residents and tourists.
But the boorish waitress of this cafe (a large girl) immediately discouraged all desire, saying that in this cafe they do not speak Russian. She also did not allow me to go to see the cafe. She didn't give me the menu.
At the same time, other tourists came up and spoke to her in English, to which the waitress with terrible knowledge of English tried to communicate with them.
As a result, both we and the English-speaking tourists left.
We had a snack with pleasure in the restaurant opposite.
This was the only case when during our 10-day trip to the Baltic States they did not want to communicate in Russian.
I strongly do not recommend visiting this basement eatery.

An interesting place and a very unusual feeling of being in a medieval basement, which is more than one hundred years old.
Delicious pies, beer and sausages. (It is extremely difficult to catch pickles from a barrel on your own)
The staff's clothes are in the medieval style. They talk loudly and boorishly, not forgetting about jokes, creating a feeling of an inn. That was probably the case about 400 years ago. The prices are quite affordable.
In general, I liked it very much, I can safely recommend you to visit.

An unusual, atmospheric place👍 We came in by chance and found ourselves in a friendly, with a "light" in every sense of the word, tavern. The warmth from the "hostess", which meets with optimism in Russian, and from the candles that light the tables, from the delicious stew and soft pies, but with a crisp crust 🤗
And the cost is also pleasing, contrary to expectations, here you can get enough for a small handful of coins....

An authentic place. We were here when there were few tourists, so there were no problems with places. The rules of conduct and use (including visual images) are written at the entrance. The hostess skillfully and quickly voiced the menu, suggested where to catch pickles and where to take dirty dishes. We took chowder, sausages, pies and mors, for three it turned out to be 29 euros (not very expensive). Everything was very tasty and satisfying!

Semi-darkness, candlelight, weathered pottery, in general, the place is colorful. The prices are low, and the pastries are very decent. You can communicate with the staff in English and if you are polite and ask about something, you will receive an appropriate answer and even permission to take a photo. I liked the coffee and apple pie and they were not expensive at all by Tallinn standards.

This is the top place in the center of Tallinn. The atmosphere of the Middle Ages and wild goodness. It's incredibly delicious!!! Wild boar pies, moose soup, and ribs are a bomb! They really crawled out! You can fish a cucumber in a barrel with a stick and a nail! The prices are not great. Emotions are over the edge! I recommend it to everyone!!!)))

The only plus is the prices. For 15 euros, you can have a snack for two. We didn't feel any special atmosphere. We wanted to take a photo of the situation (there is an announcement that you can take photos, but without a flash), the cashier scolded, they say you are not in the zoo, you do not need to take pictures of me, and no one was going to take pictures of her, the camera was directed in a completely opposite direction from her))) in general, we didn't have time to take a photo, while we were eating, I was in every possible way harassing, extorting money, they say you took a picture of me, let's get some money)))) and by the way, everyone who paid for a penny, from each a penny outside the check, here's an increase of 100 euros per day.Yes, we would be happy to leave a penny for good service and mood, but it's one thing to talk grumpily for the entourage and quite another to hint to visitors that you are worse than a dog))) there are very long queues, while you are sitting eating, a couple dozen eyes are looking at you longingly with the hope that you will already get up and leave)))) the soup, pies and sausages were delicious, the famous cucumbers could not be caught, they need to be caught with a heavy stick, at the end of which there is one small carnation. After three minutes of unsuccessful fishing, they spat on this case, and thank God, how many of them there were who could just take and catch with their hand, while no one sees, and God only knows how many unwashed hands were in that barrel))) I recommend going rather, but only for a quick snack.

an excellent atmospheric tavern, made in the spirit of the Middle Ages, the prices are the lowest on the Town Hall Square, the medieval flavor is the highest on the same square. The pies are delicious, the soup is rich, the beer is invigorating. The only drawback is the constant queues.

In the photos, everything really looks quite colorful, in fact, you can wait for hours for a place and it doesn't look so beautiful. The hostess is not as formidable as we would like, but just embittered. The dishes are simple, not worth it.

Food is like food. The soup is good, the sausages are also normal. Pear cider is delicious. They gave 15 euros for a set of two soups, two ciders and sausages.
There was a queue, but it was moving fast. There were no empty tables, we sat down with someone on an empty bench.
If you take pictures of girls without permission, they swear, they're not in some kind of zoo after all.
They wrote in the reviews. that the girls were rude, but it seemed to me that their grumpy, boorish behavior was aimed at creating a medieval atmosphere. After all, it works, otherwise there wouldn't be such long queues for them.
I was told that there was a toilet with a hole in the floor, but that's not true. there is quite an ordinary civilized toilet. There is a washbasin in the form of a barrel.

In general, the place is atmospheric, the staff is cool, in my opinion they speak all languages)) they are rude with the idea)) cucumbers in a barrel are fire)) it turned out to grab two pieces at once)) the food is delicious within the limits of what they offer))the only disadvantage is the toilet, in the evening, taking into account the traffic, it is difficult to go there because of the smells)) but overall it's cool

There are a lot of people at any time, but the cheerful hostesses will feed everyone very quickly. Try delicious pies with wild animal meat and rich moose soup, which is drunk from clay crinkles (cutlery is not provided - the Middle Ages!) Pickle cucumbers from the barrel yourself as much as you want. It is ideal for a snack in the very center of Tallinn right on the Town Hall square.

Every time in Tallinn we go there for apple pies. I do not know how they make it so that the pies are swallowed in one minute. We have never eaten such delicious ones, this time we went specifically to the 3rd Dragon🙈
It's a very atmospheric place. There are no queues only until 10.30 am, I recommend coming only in the early morning.
We have never encountered the rudeness of housewives, but a group of people were out of the blue with us. "You are not clients, you are guests. if you don't like it, go home." People who are not used to such Treatment in Moscow or St. Petersburg, of course, take offense and leave in indignation.
In general, it's colorful, don't take it personally.

An enchanting place. The hostess was heartily pleased and it is strange to read reviews that she was rude to someone, etc. People try to climb without waiting in line, take pictures with a flash (not really, I did it once), and then they are outraged that they were put in a strong word to the general laughter of the crowd. Everyone liked the dishes, they took soup, pie, tincture for three, and a rib of beef and mors for all. Everything is very tasty, we kept within 50 minutes, which is not so expensive compared to some establishments. We will definitely come back here again

It 's a terrible place! We took two pies and two beers, gave 50 euros and didn't get any change! The cashier is rude (we did not see any more employees in this "cafe"), taking advantage of the fact that the tourist is almost always disenfranchised and not set up for conflict. We didn't see any advantages.I advise everyone to avoid this place.

While they were standing in line for 40 minutes, the hostess openly insulted 3 customers , because not in front of the entrance , but already inside the room, the rules are written in English, which half of the Russian population does not know, one mother's child blew out a candle , it is written in the rules not to play with a candle , but a 5 -year-old child of course understands this in the process of quarreling the hostess in She rudely asked to leave her institution and replied to the demands to provide a book of complaints that she herself was a book of complaints , she gave the second client a hard time because she took a picture of the situation and said : if only you could pour hot soup on your hands so that you knew your place . After all these sayings, I took my wife and said that I did not want to eat in this "atmospheric dining room", I am very sorry for the children and mothers, where they stood in the cold for 40 minutes, they were fucked up!!!!

But I liked it. Yes, pies are the most common puffs, yes, mors may be diluted, but you need to understand where you are going. After the advertisement of this institution about the "heads and tails" program, apparently a lot of tourists rushed there and the modern owners got stuck!
Boorish behavior, they almost throw these pots at you
The prices are so-so: for a pint of beer, a mug of mulled wine and two small sausages 15E.
And there are many such authentic establishments in Europe.... Therefore, there is nothing to praise
