Visiting this place is strictly mandatory for any tourist route. A very colorful place - candles, pottery, lack of cutlery, massive tables and chairs and cheerful, sharp-tongued, shouting in three languages innkeepers. Many years ago, in winter, I asked: "is there a pie with mushrooms?", to which they replied: "take it better with a carrot, otherwise you don't see that there is snow on the street."
I recommend trying seasonal (as it turned out) pies and moose and lentil chowder here. As an entertainment and skill test: a barrel of pickles and a stick with a nail - try to catch it.

We came to have lunch at this institution on 13.07. With a good positive mood. Wonderful environment, helpful, kind residents and tourists.
But the boorish waitress of this cafe (a large girl) immediately discouraged all desire, saying that in this cafe they do not speak Russian. She also did not allow me to go to see the cafe. She didn't give me the menu.
At the same time, other tourists came up and spoke to her in English, to which the waitress with terrible knowledge of English tried to communicate with them.
As a result, both we and the English-speaking tourists left.
We had a snack with pleasure in the restaurant opposite.
This was the only case when during our 10-day trip to the Baltic States they did not want to communicate in Russian.
I strongly do not recommend visiting this basement eatery.

An interesting place and a very unusual feeling of being in a medieval basement, which is more than one hundred years old.
Delicious pies, beer and sausages. (It is extremely difficult to catch pickles from a barrel on your own)
The staff's clothes are in the medieval style. They talk loudly and boorishly, not forgetting about jokes, creating a feeling of an inn. That was probably the case about 400 years ago. The prices are quite affordable.
In general, I liked it very much, I can safely recommend you to visit.

An authentic place. We were here when there were few tourists, so there were no problems with places. The rules of conduct and use (including visual images) are written at the entrance. The hostess skillfully and quickly voiced the menu, suggested where to catch pickles and where to take dirty dishes. We took chowder, sausages, pies and mors, for three it turned out to be 29 euros (not very expensive). Everything was very tasty and satisfying!

Semi-darkness, candlelight, weathered pottery, in general, the place is colorful. The prices are low, and the pastries are very decent. You can communicate with the staff in English and if you are polite and ask about something, you will receive an appropriate answer and even permission to take a photo. I liked the coffee and apple pie and they were not expensive at all by Tallinn standards.

This is the top place in the center of Tallinn. The atmosphere of the Middle Ages and wild goodness. It's incredibly delicious!!! Wild boar pies, moose soup, and ribs are a bomb! There are a lot of people at any time, but the cheerful hostesses will feed everyone very quickly. Try delicious pies with wild animal meat and rich moose soup, which is drunk from clay crinkles (cutlery is not provided - the Middle Ages!) Pickle cucumbers from the barrel yourself as much as you want. It is ideal for a snack in the very center of Tallinn right on the Town Hall square.

Every time in Tallinn we go there for apple pies. I do not know how they make it so that the pies are swallowed in one minute. We have never eaten such delicious ones, this time we went specifically to the 3rd Dragon🙈
It's a very atmospheric place. There are no queues only until 10.30 am, I recommend coming only in the early morning.
We have never encountered the rudeness of housewives, but a group of people were out of the blue with us. "You are not clients, you are guests. if you don't like it, go home." People who are not used to such Treatment in Moscow or St. Petersburg, of course, take offense and leave in indignation.
In general, it's colorful, don't take it personally.
