The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Dubno is an architectural monument of the retrospective Russian style. It was built in 1844 from brick. In 1864, it was reconstructed by architect Michaelis using the features of the retrospective Russian style. The two-tiered volume, which is monumentally square in plan, is completed by a huge cylindrical light drum under an onion dome. The main element of the interior is a light drum, which gives the temple an airy, solemn look. The eastern, northern and southern walls are equipped with narrow choir galleries. Due to the raised space at the altar, the altar part is divided into two choir stalls. According to legend, Italian architects built the church in Dubno village by mistake. Initially, this project was created for the city of Dubna in the Rivne region of Ukraine and was designed for a large number of parishioners. And the builders confused the names of the cities and built a church in the small town of Dubno of the same name, which had only a few dozen houses.
