Once I had to travel by train in a reserved seat from Kharkov to Chita in early November 1971. We drove to Chita for about 5 days. But while driving through the vast Siberia, suddenly the train stopped somewhere in a deserted place and stood for almost an hour, emitting long, long horns, someone started a rumor that the rails ahead had been dismantled, and everyone began to look forward to future events. But then it turned out that from this point onwards the railway was still not electrified, an ordinary steam locomotive was attached to our train, which pulled us to Chita, so we were already riding a steam locomotive along the picturesque shore of Lake Baikal. Part of the route from Kharkov to Chita was laid through the Ural Mountains, which were very close to the wagons with a sheer wall cut into the rocks. On these steep cliffs there were inscriptions in Russian of the most diverse and informative content, there were a lot of them and with different font sizes, sometimes they were located so high that the thought involuntarily arose that you could not climb there without climbing equipment, besides, you still need to have a can of paint and a brush with you. That is, they came here specifically to perpetuate their name for centuries: "Vasya was here" (the date is indicated at the bottom, sometimes the city). It would be possible to compile and publish a colorful album of these inscriptions with a bibliography of the names and places of residence of the authors of these rock texts for future study by the descendants of our electrified Stone Age. In order to see all this, it's worth going there and leaving your "autograph" on this wall of memory.

Terrible impressions of this station. Somehow I happened to visit here, before the well-known events. Because the train to the south was with a transfer, I had to spend several hours at this station. It is simply teeming with bandit personalities and other asocials, a separate topic is the police, which looks and behaves the same as the above, but only in police uniform. I really felt fear for my life, and both when meeting with criminal-looking individuals and even more so with the police, here I fully felt the expression "werewolves in uniform". In a seemingly civilized country. I love Ukraine very much and I know that many good people live there, but I have visited Kharkiv several times and all impressions of the city are worse than one another, although the city itself and the railway station in particular are beautiful and with a history
