This modest and beautiful obelisk is a monument to the tsarist governor, who organized the park on the territory of which the obelisk is located, the first civil governor of Minsk and Minsk province, Zakhariy Korneev. It was thanks to the efforts of Governor Korneev that the Governor's garden was founded in 1805m, today it is a park named after him. Maxim Gorky. The monument is concise, as well as information in information sources about the monument.

A stele (obelisk) in memory of the founder of the city park, Zachary Korneev. By the way, its grand opening took place 220 years ago - on May 1, 1805. Apparently, the park was reconstructed by this date, but the military orchestra, as in the old days, did not play at the entrance. The memorial plaque in its current form was installed in June 2003, but there is a historical error in the text: Zakhary Korneev was the second civil governor of Minsk from January 8, 1797 to March 14, 1808. The first governor of the city was Ivan Neplyuev (from 03/13/1793 to 12/03/1796). This can be read in the book "Minsk Governors, vice-governors and provincial leaders of the nobility 1793-1917" (Minsk, publishing house "Belarus", 2016). For the first time, the badge of honor to the founder of the Governor's Park, Zakhariy Korneev, was installed back in the 19th century.
