We arrived in Yerevan on October 14th. It was raining and it was quite cold. Our hotel - Holiday Inn Yerevan - Republic Square, is located just a stone's throw from Republic Square. While we were settling in, while we were putting things out, while we were looking for this ill-fated "Lavash" and choking on cold and dry minced meat there, it got dark. Returning, we went out to the square - it's beautiful! Illuminated buildings are reflected in the water of the pools. Put up a tripod and take photo shots. There was no tripod, we took a couple of photos and went back to the streets. We went to antique shops, supermarkets, drank pomegranate juice and smoothies and, returning to our hotel, found ourselves on the square again. Tired, angry about the dinner bummer. We went out to the square and heard music, and then we saw dancing jets of fountains. Immediately, fatigue passed and despair found - the composition was ending. WE MISSED EVERYTHING! But then a new composition began. And then there's another one. Beautiful music, a wonderful singer's voice, dancing streams of water.... Everything was forgotten and the fatigue was gone. I don't know how long we stood admiring the dancing jets of water, but the show never ended. One song followed another, and we went to our hotel pretty chilled, but happy as children.
And the next day we went to Sevan, walked through the "Vernissage", found a stunningly cozy restaurant where we finally enjoyed Armenian-Georgian cuisine and Armenian hospitality, and when we went out to the square, returning to the hotel, we immediately realized that something extraordinary was happening there: a lot of people, police cars and outfits TV crews and flames roaring into the air in one place or another. There were a lot of police, but they did not commit atrocities and calmly let us, the audience, into the middle of the action. The crew members, paying no attention to us, went about their business: preparing the balloons for lifting, checking the operation of the exhaust valves and the gas supply system. And then huge fans rolled and began pumping air into the domes. The flames roared, the balloons grew in size to what fantastic sizes - it was the start of the festival of balloonists "Discover Armenia from heaven". After a few minutes, the balls began to soar into the air one by one. It was just breathtaking.
Well, that's it.. the square is beautiful, the buildings are harmonious, the benches are comfortable, the police are constantly on duty, protecting order and peace. Along the perimeter of the square there are taxi drivers and private mini-buses of travel agencies offering excursions to the sights of Armenia.
