Montparnasse is located on the left bank of the Seine, in the south of Paris. The boulevards in Paris are built on the site of former fortifications that previously protected the city walls. Salvador Dali, Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, and many other famous cultural and artistic figures lived on Montparnasse Boulevard at various times. The Boulevard Montparnasse partially includes three districts of Paris – 6, 14 and 15. There is practically nothing left of the former greatness. There is now a train station next to the gloomy Montparnasse tower (an architectural disgrace of Paris).
