Beautiful nature, but overcrowded in holidays.

Great location. But it can be too crowded on weekdays. There is a sauna with panoramic mountain views and a small swimming pool. Everything is included in the price. The only restaurant in Shymkent is open until midnight. Delicious breakfasts. You can get there by cable car or ECO-taxi.
Of the cons: problems with cleanliness in the room. Cleaning and changing of towels should be requested at the reception. The letter with the link to the order of services can be safely ignored. The idea is good, but the implementation has failed.
We faced the fact that there were water outages. Not very critical, but unpleasant.

A nice old hotel at a great height. He sleeps well, no altitude sickness. The mattress is cool, high and soft. The room is 18 meters, a normal bathroom. We did an original job on the first day with the fact that the water in the sink does not go away: a guy came and just unscrewed everything in the drain. Gels, shampoos and lotion are brought with cleaning, but this cleaning must be ordered separately, they do not clean anything themselves. The TV is only via Wi-Fi, you need Netflix accounts, for example. The sauna is right on the second floor, in principle, very good, you can warm up with a view of the ski slope. But the water in the outdoor pool is too cold for such procedures in winter.
The most important thing in this place is the proximity to the highway. In the morning I got up and immediately took the skis to the lift twenty meters from the entrance. It's just super! There is a ski room, however, luggage is also stored there. There is a ski boot dryer. It would be cool if people didn't dry clothes and suitcases there too))
Breakfast from eight to eleven in the restaurant on the second floor, buffet. Everything is high-quality and delicious, there is a choice, but not much.

The hotel is ideal for a ski holiday, due to its location on Shymkent. A place with a history, a former ski base during the Soviet era.
Everywhere there is a beautiful modern renovation in the Alpine style.
The rooms have everything you need, including a bathrobe, slippers, cosmetics, etc. There is a kettle, tea and drinking water. There is also a TV, we did not use it. A very wide bed with a comfortable mattress.
The price includes breakfast (buffet, the menu is standard for such breakfasts, everything is delicious), sauna access and a suspect pool. The sauna with a mountain view is simply gorgeous!
In terms of cost, if compared with Rosa Khutor in Sochi, on the same dates in February, the cost of 3 on the mountain at the lift will be 3-4 times more expensive! At the same time, there will be no pool with a sauna, and sneakers for money (we rested last year).
I highly recommend the hotel. They provide a discount on multi-day ski passes. In general, the staff is very polite and friendly.
Those who get rooms on the 4th floor with a view of the slope will receive a bonus in the form of a regular visit of squirrels almost to the room :))) Squirrels are almost not afraid of people.

An incredibly beautiful place! We were at the Shimbulak resort hotel. Service, as if they came to visit relatives. Warm, delicious, cozy, everything is thought out to the smallest detail, for guests. The hot water pool and the sauna with panoramic windows stole my heart. The price tag is more than acceptable for this level. I will definitely return to the ski snow season. To all the polite and generous tipping guests working there!

It's a nice hotel, but every day organized groups of children come there to hike and swim in the pool sweaty in T-shirts. On the first day, they came with a speaker and turned on their music. I liked the sauna, there is tea, hats. The water in the pool is muddy, because people come to wash there right from the street.

The rooms are sad and in need of renovation.
It is very inconvenient that there is no normal closet. And robes, and outerwear, and equipment - all together. Instead of normal shelves, unintelligible rag shelves.
There is also a problem with the equipment of the room, then the safe will break, then there are not enough slippers, then there is some kind of plaque in the glasses.
The breakfasts are average, in principle, you can eat enough, but it's better to go to the restaurant next door.
Positive points: the view of the slope is excellent, there is a combi-1 nearby, it is very nice to leave the hotel and go for a ride right away. The sauna is good, there is herbal tea, kettles, sugar, cold water, boiler in the relaxation room. There is a warm swimming pool on the street nearby, but at the moment it is not suspected, since the heating element is broken. The reception staff tries very hard, they are very polite and friendly.
Overall, the impressions are mixed. As a normal three-star hotel, as a place to spend the night to go for a ride right away, it's normal.

The mountains are very beautiful, the infrastructure (the Shymkent hotel, all establishments) is at a good level. The difficulty of the trails is comfortable for an average level of skiing. I recommend going in late February, March. There is a better chance that it will snow. There is no freeride there, skiing is more on the piste.

A Soviet campsite with cosmetic repairs. The advantages are ski-in, gorgeous views from the windows, the presence of a sauna (shared) and a swimming pool. Cons - a meager buffet like breakfast, a discount-free restaurant at the hotel, water from the plumbing has a smell (it's normal for mountains), go broke on bottled water. There was a table in my Standard+ room, but there were no chairs or anything like that)

I stayed for a couple of days, I think, right on the mountain. We were warmly welcomed, and we were fed breakfast in the morning. Next time I go to Shymkent, I will definitely stay there!

The slope is excellent, the views are gorgeous, good blue and red slides, I definitely recommend going up to the very top and trying the slopes, the descent of which opens from above.
But there are nuances.
First, the ascent to the slopes is limited - from 9 to 17. Then a break for an hour and a half, then night skiing, from 19 to 23. It's inconvenient. At this time, the slope is being trampled, but why can't it be done at night? And why not extend the opening hours at least until 00:00? Sorochany and Stepanovo are open until 02:00 every day.
But that's not all - night skiing is NOT every day! Except on holidays. On weekdays, after work, you can come and see the lift that is not working. The logic is strange!
Secondly, there is a hotel near the slopes, it can be reached either by funicular or eco-taxi (electric cars, others are not allowed) they fight around the clock. But this is not accurate! We arrived from the city to the funicular at 20:30, the lift did not work, and found out that eco-taxis also do not work, like, avalanche danger! What a surprise! No one stops pedestrians, and a barrier has been raised for cars. The fact that we have to walk up to the hotel for more than an hour is half the trouble, but the fact that we have to go to the airport with all our things by 6 in the morning is quite a disaster! The funicular will definitely not work at this time, and eco-taxis are also not allowed!!!! Uh.... Somehow it doesn't work out well!!! When I was there, several cars wanted to pass (electric cars) - they were not allowed. We contacted the hotel, they promised to help. The evening stopped being languid :)) Then, by some miracle, 2 girls drove through the barrier, dropped us off, for which I thank them very much! And the lift was working at the top, and one or two skiers flashed from time to time! Fantastic! There is an avalanche danger below, and people are riding at the top!!! Like, the slopes were shot from above, but not from below! Amazing! I would have put 2 stars, but the hotel found a way to get us to the airport closer to midnight, confirmed that there would be a car in the morning, and it arrived.
Well, and for a snack - there was a case this winter that the funicular hung up, and people hung in the booths for several hours in the cold.

A very very cozy hotel. The rooms are great. In the nominee, it is very uncomfortable. The sauna and the pool are all at the highest level. Going to the Restaurant, I thought - well, I'm leaving all the money there. However, the prices surprised with their democratic nature. Everything is delicious and the service in the restaurant is at the highest level. Children have a place to play and take a walk. Well, a night campfire with mulled wine is just a fire. The hotel has four floors. Breakfast on the second floor, sauna on the second. In general, inside, as in the country, everything is clapboard. The Internet, Wi-Fi is not bad. The prices in the restaurant, as in Moscow, are not the most expensive, i.e. in theory cheaper than in Krasnaya Polyana. Well, the hotel itself was much cheaper than the options in Krasnaya Polyana for the same dates. For a landmark in the city, it is twice as cheap. In general, it makes sense to stock up on all sorts of cooking in the city and save on it for a couple of days. It is important to know the schedule of the electric bus and electric taxi, otherwise if you have a night or very morning flight, then you risk not leaving the resort at all. It seems like taxi drivers have one car 24/7, but that's how lucky they are. Electric taxi and bass go to the Medeo skating rink, there you transfer to the city bus tl Yandex taxi. By the way, Russian bank cards work on Yandex - it's convenient, you don't have to mess with the taxi driver's cache. About the trails - for beginners to the blue ones through the pass, i.e. to the very top of the mountain, and there is a height of 3200. The rest of the tracks are at least amateur+ level. In short, if we take the newcomer directly, then it will be hard to ride...the trails are wide, but the slope is high

I liked everything very much, I came to ski. Sleep well, the air is cool and the view, you wake up in the morning in a great mood. I liked the food in the restaurant, especially the tea with milk and brownies. There is a sauna downstairs, it will go for a steam bath. The atmosphere in the hotel is also good, the staff is young and friendly. The only thing that can confuse someone is the state of the hotel itself inside, it is advisable to update especially the showers.
It takes literally 2 minutes to walk to the cable cars. There are a lot of different restaurants nearby, but there are enough restaurants at the hotel.
If I come to ride a Shimbulak, I will definitely live here.

The best place in Kazakhstan for skiing: only red slopes from a height of 3200 m: it happens to be puffy, there are places for freeride, 5-7: restaurants with an average check of 10k per person, there is a school and training slopes for different levels, equipment at the rental is loose, queues on weekdays for 40 minutes, on weekends I recommend avoiding: take in the city, it will be cheaper and fresher. The Shembulak Hotel is a former training base for Soviet skiers. We were on weekdays, had a great time, outdoor pool, sauna. Use the hotel vouchers - 30% discount on the instructor and skipass.

Moreover, it is indicated in front of the ticket offices that the price is on weekdays and weekends on 25.12 INCLUSIVE. The cashier has one answer to this question - look at the information on Instagram. What does Instagram have to do with it?! I see one thing near the cash register, they force me to pay for another. After reading the bad reviews, I decided not to book a room but to take it on the spot. I shouldn't have worried. The staff at the reception is friendly, check-in is fast. They respond promptly to all requests. The junior suite is a little dark due to the use of burnt wood. It looks a little gloomy during the day, but it looks great with the light. There is a good view from the balcony. There is one bed for seven out of 3 people, but it is 2.5 meters wide. The SPA area is small but cozy. The heated pool with this view is generally super. The service in the restaurant was pleasant, as well as the taste of the dishes. You can only find fault with the organization of breakfasts - the staff often runs away somewhere, there is a lot of fuss. But the breakfast itself is not bad. I will definitely stay again if I am in Almaty.
