"And the Angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace with God; and behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a Son, and you will call His name Jesus..." Nazareth, the place where Christ spent his childhood, lies on the hills of the Lower Galilee. The Church of the Annunciation is located here — the largest cathedral in the Middle East, visible even at the entrance to the city and belonging to the Franciscan Order. This is the Catholic Church in Nazareth, erected on the site where, according to Catholic tradition, the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary took place. A place of Christian pilgrimage. Monks of the Franciscan Order serve in the basilica. The modern church building was built in 1969 on the site where the Early Byzantine church originally stood, and later the church of the Crusades era. The church consists of two levels, the lower level includes the Grotto of the Annunciation, which many Christians consider to be the remains of the dwelling of the Virgin Mary and the place where the evangelical event of the Annunciation took place. The construction of the new basilica building was completed in 1969. The Italian architect Giovanni Muzio became the author of the design of the basilica building. According to the Gospel, the Virgin Mary lived here when an Angel told her the Good News. The subjects of the reliefs of the central doors depict scenes from the life of Mary.Other doors of the temple depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments. The temple, IMHO, is very brutal in its architecture and even the material from which it was created - simple reinforced concrete! But, being inside the basilica itself, this is not at all confusing. The temple is active and when you get to the organ playing, your soul rises to the top, to the dome, which is a stylized white lily - the flower of the Virgin Mary...This is such a grandiose structure...that he just needs to be seen for himself! He shocks absolutely everyone!

It's pretty enough. Interesting. The monumental stone building of the Basilica looks heavy and somehow too modern. There is a covered gallery in the courtyard, along the perimeter, along the entire outer wall, where icons of the Virgin from all over the world are presented. There is a small museum, but you will not see anything particularly interesting in it, except for sculptural capitals.
