The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Christ was built in 1914 in Montmartre, on the highest point of Paris. The church was built in memory of those who died in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871, designed by architect Paul Abadi. Construction began in 1875 and lasted 40 years. We were in time for a new war with Germany, which, for a change, we won. The basilica is a Roman-Byzantine style temple with a wide staircase at the foot. The uniqueness lies in the fact that it is built from a special mineral that was mined in the town of Chateau-Landon in the suburbs of Paris. This mineral has an interesting feature — it turns white when exposed to water. The magnificent temple, although the writer Emile Zola called the Sacre Coeur "an overpowering stone mass dominating the city where our Revolution began." I'm not Zola, I liked it. I remember how I got to it (it wasn't easy, it was always going up) and what an impression it made. What kind of stained glass windows are inside.. Oh, what a view of Paris from the terrace! Complete delight. However, there are unrealistically many people around.

There is a magnificent and majestic cathedral on the hill of Montmartre. To finish the visit late in the evening, closer to closing - it is magnificent, the atmosphere is fascinating. The cathedral's observation deck offers a magnificent panorama of Paris.

The Sacré-Coeur Basilica is located on Montmartre Hill at an altitude of 130 m, and equestrian statues of Louis and Joan of Arc greet and escort. There is an observation deck at the exit of the basilica, which offers a magnificent view of the city! Be sure to visit! I recommend it!
