Do not recommend to people with claustrophobia. The path is narrow, queues outside and inside. Ticket price is very expensive.

It is very unusual and interesting. Those who are interested in the history of human development will definitely like what they have seen. It's hard to imagine that this was built by people for everyday life. For a complete inspection of all the premises, you will need a good physical shape and not a very bulky complexion, because those who built it were obviously thin and short. For children, the visit will probably be akin to a quest. The entrance fee for the 24th year is 13 euros. It is included in the standard tours of Cappadocia. It is not difficult to get there by car. There is a paid inexpensive parking right at the entrance, there are also enough places for free parking around.

Overall, an interesting place. Atmospheric. We were after Kaymakla. And Derinkuyu liked it a little less. Most likely because of the crowds inside. The atmosphere is getting lost. Queues at the entrance. And they move surprisingly slowly. I didn't really like that there are a lot of new stairs in Derinkuyu, which are different in style. It was possible to artificially age it somehow, so as not to disturb the harmony. And some kind of electrical panels on the walls, it would be possible to disguise. Many passages are closed. There is no such maze as from Kaymakly. And there are no listed disadvantages either. If you choose one of the objects, then Kaymakly. And in principle, there is not much point in visiting both, because they are of the same type.

A huge underground city. The scale is impressive. Despite the depth, the air is good thanks to the ventilation shaft provided by the creators of the dungeon. Good lighting, but it's worth taking a flashlight if you want to look into the nooks and crannies. We spent about an hour in the city, went down to the lowest available level. They examined numerous cattle stalls, living quarters, utility blocks, a church, a meeting hall, a cemetery and other premises, the purpose of which remained a mystery. Cons: despite the high cost of the ticket, information support is completely absent. There is no scheme, no auditors, no description stands. We saw several signs "stall", "kitchen". There are also arrows indicating the direction of inspection. When moving between floors, the flow of visitors goes in the opposite direction. The tunnels are narrow, it is impossible for two people to disperse in them, so with a large flow of visitors, congestion is possible. It is better to explore the city in the morning before the arrival of organized groups. As elsewhere in Turkey, "inexpensive guides" offer their services right on the spot. Their story is uninformative, and much depends on their imagination.

We were in the city on the recommendation of a friend, but who had claustrophobia and a feeling of falling into a maze during the visit. Therefore, a friend recommended visiting this place with a guide.
My friend and I went to the city without a guide. And we explored it inside and out with pleasure.
There was no claustrophobia or panic from getting lost. There are quite a lot of people in the underground city, but I would not go under the closure of the complex))
Not far from the complex there are children who allegedly help to park and ask for money for it. The request is unobtrusive, so there is no negativity.
I recommend visiting the complex!!

It's a very interesting place. There are many different branches. It will take a little more than an hour to visit if you leave the main route. It's a little cramped in places, because the flows come from two sides and you have to skip the oncoming one.

I definitely recommend you to visit.
You get into the spirit of the ancient inhabitants. Rooms with high ceilings, narrow passageways only for the slender. The ventilation system has been preserved and operates here, and air movement is felt. Large stone doors have been preserved, which, if necessary, closed the entrances for protection.

A must-visit. An exciting journey into the underworld. But it is better to take a guide who will tell you how the premises were used. But who built it, when and how remains a mystery. There is even a hypothesis about aliens

It's amazing how all this has been preserved in this form. How people lived there, how they dug it all, how the Nicknames didn't get confused in these tunnels, it's not clear at all. Very interesting. But large or tall people will not pass through there, they may get stuck, very narrow and low passages. It's hard to imagine how a woman, for example, cooked a large pot of soup and dragged it through these narrow tunnels to feed the household. Pets also lived there with them. How they could have been dragged there, I don't know 🤷♀️

Admission is 13 euros (payment by in.bank card), if there is no such card, then only in lira. 45 minutes was enough without a tour, taking into account the reverse movement. Yes, I wonder how in the distant past people could equip all communications.

I didn't like it. Admission in 2024 cost 3-4 thousand rubles. At the entrance, the guide asked for 350 euros. In fact, it's a terrible mess. I've never been so deep underground before. Not the most pleasant entertainment. It's better to watch this on TV.

A historical and very interesting place, with a lot of BUT! People with panic attacks and claustrophobia are absolutely not allowed to visit this place!!! I've never been afraid of confined spaces, but terrible things have happened to me and many other visitors in this underground city! Already on the third floor underground, many began to panic, fear! Narrow and low long stuffy tunnels, dozens of people were walking in a line, breathing down each other's necks, in the heat, there was a shortage of air. There are no signs with information about where to exit and where to go! There is no one from the staff who could help in case of anything, there is no emergency exit or return road; the exit is only back - through the tunnel on the oncoming lane, and there are people there. Dizziness began, my heartbeat increased- I have never had such fear in my life! Many people ran out on the oncoming lane and pushed aside those who were coming down. I was seized with panic, my husband also felt unwell and I realized that I would not be able to go down any lower, besides, then I would also have to go upstairs. And, turning around in this narrow, stuffy tunnel, we began to squeeze through the crowd of people in the opposite direction. There were people sitting in separate branches who felt sick… There was no help or communication with the outside world. We ran faster to the fresh air, our hearts pounding. About 15 minutes later we saw the light at the end of the tunnel, and were delighted - we jumped out into the street, taking a breath of fresh air! I definitely recommend this place only to those people who are confident in their health, in their endurance. It's terrible that there is no information when buying tickets, it's terrible that there are no staff in the tunnels who would monitor the situation. In such a crush, stuffiness, a tragedy can happen. And if you get sick, somewhere deep on the 5th floor underground - you definitely won't get an ambulance!

We arrived early in the morning, there were no tourists yet. We went down, but not all floors were passed, as there were five children with us. It's cool inside, it's better to dress the little ones warmly. The passages are very narrow, in some places you have to walk bent over. It is better to take a guide, it is easy to get lost and there is little information.

Stuffy and scary place =) it's better to go when there are no crowds of tourists, otherwise it's just darkness. many people panic, which is quite instinctively understandable - a person does not live like an ant underground, and there is a risk that you will be stupidly trampled in these narrow passages =)

Derinkuyu translates as a deep well. This is a unique place. An underground cave city with 8 tiers (or maybe more - the city is still being explored)! 5 tiers are now available for tourists. The city will be connected by a 10-kilometer tunnel to another underground city (Kaymakly). The visit is paid - 300TL (August 2023)

It's kind of empty. An unjustified price for just peshers, in general, the feeling that this is a warehouse of merchants, for storing food like in a refrigerator. Narrowly low is unusual, but aboveground cities are much more interesting. The same uchisar castle is much more beautiful and the views are steep, or in Chavushin you can see the views from the church. Also pay for the road, it's a long drive of 35 minutes, 100 for the entrance, as in Istanbul for a good museum. If everything has been reviewed and the very fact of going underground is purely interesting, then go ahead. Objectively, I don't understand why, it's probably better to get closer to kaymskli and the pictures are more interesting, the essence is the same. The photo is the best you can see.
