I have never seen such a terrible attitude towards the monument of the 6th century. At the entrance to the temple there is a church shop, which occupies all the premises, but there is little room for trade and they decided to install metal cabinets in the window opening, but it's a pity - the cabinet did not enter there. Then the vandal workers took A PUNCHER AND BEGAN TO CHISEL THE MASONRY OF THE 6TH CENTURY! This did not bother the temple workers at all. People are walking, dust and noise in the temple, but there should be no interference for trade.

The Assumption Cathedral in Dranda or the Dranda Cathedral is a temple of the approximately VI century in the ancient Abkhazian village of Dranda, 2 km away. south of Gulrypsh. This is one of the 3 large medieval cathedrals of Abkhazia, very non-trivial. The oldest domed temple in Abkhazia and the second surviving stone temple after the basilica in Tsandripsha. The strangest of all the temples in Abkhazia, completely unlike any Abkhazian temples or other Georgian ones. The appearance of the temple was greatly distorted by the repairs of the XIX century, but in general it retained the original composition. Back in the 19th century, a large monastery complex was built around the temple, which we see to this day. Part of the complex was appropriated by the Drand prison, which is now perfectly visible from the cathedral

I advise you to visit the ancient church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Drandy. This is the preserved building of the monastery church. What should I pay attention to? Unique large icons telling about the Assumption of the Virgin. The unique architecture of the 12-carbon flat dome. There is a lot of literature and personal icons. The monastic way of life is developing, beautiful territory and shady alleys. Everyone can see their own, but culturally and historically, you can acquire a lot of knowledge that will remain useful for a lifetime. And of course you can visit Nikita Besogon's key-bathhouse.
