Great selection of traditional Armenian stuffed dried fruits. Prices are reasonable for the quality and not high anyway. Sun dried peaches stuffed with sweet walnuts are great, as well as pomegranate dried juice with nuts. Just try it and you will understand what I am talking about.

Gum is where you can find all Armenian goodies at the most reasonable price. I love going to Gum with my kids and meet the locals of Armenia and enjoy their warmth and hospitality

There is a wonderful eatery, they cook Gingalo Khats there. There is nothing so delicious in the area.

The old Soviet-style market, everything looks very unsanitary, I walked past a row of cheeses - "it smells to put it mildly", the market itself is saturated with the smell of spices in a very strong concentration, when I came out of there, I probably felt this smell for another half hour.Especially strongly with the offer to buy- try do not stick, but there is such a thing. I bought a very tasty thing there- something like an improved version of churchkhela- that is, also a nut in syrup, but either dried apricots or prunes are laid between the pieces of the nut and all this in a "portioned" version, that is, separate balls, so to speak.It is very tasty in this combination, sold by weight, eaten like seeds ...)) I bought figs that are in a green shell, and red inside. mmm...That's how much I dislike purple figs, I love this green one so much. You can't really buy it in Moscow, and it's expensive. And these are the packages (in the photo) that pita bread is sold.))

You can buy sujuk in a supermarket (in vacuum packaging, with an understandable production date) along with meat sujuk and Italian cheese, and pay with a mir card)))
I bought with my hands: dried fruits - I threw some of them away (I found mold at home upon careful inspection), walnut jam - it's generally an outrage (nuts were used in jam already mature - teeth can be broken - and hence the question: do the locals not see that the nut is not even suitable for jam in size?.. since the jam is black, it is unclear by appearance, I relied on the decency of the seller / producer. But in vain, apparently it is designed for tourists who will not return anyway. Unpleasant, but not surprised).
Therefore, if you have ever been to vegetable markets in your life, there is nothing to do here (despite the fact that the assortment on all the trays is the same).
If I'm in Yerevan again, I definitely won't go there))
I visited only because of the impressions of English-speaking bloggers on YouTube, whose reviews I looked at before the trip (but they didn't live in a scoop)))

Prices are not cheap for Armenia. for a kilogram of cherries, the seller asked for 2000 drams, then 1700. We bought on the highway for 1000. For a souvenir small plate with dried fruits 2000, in another place 1500. Dried persimmon per kg 6000 drams, bargained for 5000.

Great market, lots of goodies. Before buying, I tried basturma, fruit sweets, wine. Everything is very decent. Nice sellers. They took a lot of things with them to St. Petersburg. But it turned out to be a huge minus - in the beautiful dried (dried) tomatoes, which I bought decently in this market, there were fat white worms. Unfortunately, I saw it a couple of weeks later in St. Petersburg, I guess there were some maggots initially. Be careful, customers.
