The monastery impressed us very much, and the people here are wonderful, especially the rare khachkar and the paintings inside are unusual. Right next to the monastery, there is a spacious parking lot, a shop, a cafe and an inexpensive hotel Haghpat, which has a wonderful owner. It was cooler in spring than in Yerevan

A wonderful monument of the Middle Ages in Armenia, almost on the border with Georgia, it was all a single kingdom of ruler Tamara. All the numerous buildings of the monastery are open to the public, it is a whole complex. In addition to architectural beauty, there are murals and frescoes, which are usually not found in Armenian monuments of the Middle Ages. The monastery is located on an elevation. The views are wonderful, they take your breath away. There is always a fresh wind blowing here and the heat is not so felt. They sell various souvenirs down by the road.
