An interesting museum of local lore, located in the building of the city hall. The expositions are located in halls on different floors of the building, there is an observation deck at the top of the tower. For a more detailed acquaintance with the exhibits, I recommend using the services of a guide. Access to the observation deck is possible every hour accompanied by a guide, in some places you need to bend down due to small doorways. A wonderful panorama of the city center opens from above, good photos are guaranteed. It took about two and a half hours to inspect the main exposition, a couple of thematic exhibitions and climb to the observation deck.

On December 14, we visited the exhibition "Back to the USSR" for 4 rubles and ascent to the tower for 7 rubles each. We arrived in advance at 14.00, bought tickets for 17.00. Although we were warned about low beams, I still hit my head, it's good that I was wearing a hat. In general, there are 21 halls in museums. According to a single ticket, an inspection of 8 halls, the rest are paid separately, in our case - 4 rubles. The exhibition is not big, but since the museum employee told everything, it was pleasant and informative. But why should the museum staff get dressed at 17.50 if the museum is open to visitors until 18.00? I don't understand....

The museum is good, it is located in the building of the former town hall. It is interesting to climb the observation deck and see the whole center of Vitebsk from a height. The only disadvantage is that you have to pay for each hall (apparently done in order to rip off as much as possible from tourists), the halls are small and not particularly interesting. I recommend only the observation deck.

Of the advantages, many guides (curators of halls) tell interesting and friendly stories, and there are aunts. This is not a characteristic of age, but the type of person who lived in the USSR. The museum is beautiful, the halls are interesting. I didn't like the navigation of the halls, everything is scattered throughout the building. We managed to visit only one branch - Repin's summer cottage "Zdravneevo". The tour consists of two parts. The first one in the museum, they tell about the little-known portrait painter Pen. Then they are taken by museum transport to the estate outside the city and returned to the same place. Very convenient. The tour is only on Saturdays. I highly recommend it.

I didn't like the attitude of the staff towards tourists. Firstly, the maps indicate that the opening is at 10:00, and in fact at 11:00. Secondly, we came to the ticket office at 12:03 and wanted to get to the observation deck, but they refused and told us to come at 13:00. Since they let you in exactly 1 time per hour and at the same time delays are not excusable (even if you were not aware of it). But most of all I didn't like the way the cashier said it, it was clearly a complete bureaucracy. I still did not understand what the difficulty was for us to climb the stairs ourselves.

I can't even believe that there is so much hidden in a small-looking building! There are both permanent and temporary expositions. It is possible to choose one or two or visit all of them. At the same time, to master everything-perhaps not very large, but this compensates for the quality of the exposures. Ancient Vitebsk is simply incredible.
