Mokwa is my place of power 🙏
I've been here alone, with my kids and my campers, 30 times, and I'll definitely be back.
As for me, Eastern Abkhazia is much cooler than Western Abkhazia.
One of my favorite routes (you can go with small children)- Mokwa (temple, buffalo rookery) - hot springs - trout farming in bamboo grove. Everything functions all year round.
There are "civil" springs (two large complexes in Kyndig), and there is also a "wild" spring near the Mokva Cathedral, where we usually go with tourists. 🙂
There are still many interesting places nearby, but I advise you to visit no more than three locations per day.
In extreme heat, you can skip the springs and visit the mussel farm in Tamysh or swim in the mountain river near the Mokva temple.
On the farm, mussels are sold raw, not cooked, a kilogram last year cost 600 rubles.
There are home-made rural cafes near the farm (near the Tamysh campsite), they will cook mussels for a small fee.

An ancient temple with an interesting history and architecture. Gorgeous views : the temple against the backdrop of the mountains is incredibly beautiful, when you climb the observation tower, it seems that time stops from such views. And when you enter the temple and see the frescoes on the walls, it takes your breath away. The cell of the Mother of God gives the feeling that you are visiting the Mother of God.. you have to see and feel it yourself. I recommend 🙏

An Orthodox cathedral with a thousand-year-old and very complicated history. It is a must-visit in order to appreciate its medieval architectural splendor. Against the background of the mountains, it looks, of course, extraordinary, the very method of laying and building materials attract attention. There is also a well with delicious drinking water on site.
