"On September 18, 2020, a sculpture of the patron saint of Grodno appeared in the royal city. Its opening is timed to coincide with the City Day.
Saint Hubert lived in the Middle Ages, was at the court of the Frankish king, was considered a passionate hunter and trapper of animals. But after being rescued in a terrible storm, Hubert moved away from the court, distributed his possessions to the poor and became a real prayer book.
Today, hunters pray to Saint Hubert in the hope of good luck.
Next to the saint, you can always find a deer with gilded horns. It is he who is depicted on the modern coat of arms of Grodno.
The author of the sculpture was Grodno master Vladimir Panteleev. He said that the sculpture of Hubert with a deer appeared on the site of an unsuccessful wooden sculpture of a tourist."
The sculpture of a tourist is indeed... It wasn't very good! But the deer is good!
