Here is a short info about it. It is magical and the most well organized one.
The Ulugh Beg Madrasa (Uzbek: Ulugʻbek madrasasi) is a madrasa (Islamic school) in the historic center of Samarkand, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uzbekistan.[1] Together with other monuments, it forms the monumental ensemble of Registan, the old heart of the city.[2] It was built between 1417 and 1421 by the then-Timurid governor of Samarkand, Ulugh Beg, Timur's grandson and prominent astronomer, who was later emperor between 1447 and 1449.
It definately a must see monument.

Ulugbek Madrasah in Samarkand is a real treasure of Uzbek architecture! I was delighted with the stunning ornaments and beautifully preserved ceramic tiles, which create an amazing atmosphere. The courtyard is very cozy, and it is pleasant to stroll here, enjoying the history of this place. This place inspires and conveys the spirit of antiquity. I strongly recommend everyone to visit Ulugbek Madrasah — it's not just a tourist attraction, but a whole experience!

**Ulugbek Madrasah in Samarkand: a masterpiece of science and stone**
As an expert on Arabic architecture, I have devoted decades to studying Islamic architecture from Damascus to Granada. But when I first crossed the threshold of the Ulugbek Madrasah, I was struck not only by the aesthetics, but also by the philosophical depth of this structure. Here, architecture becomes a hymn to reason.
Built in 1420, this madrasah is not just an educational institution, but the embodiment of the ideal of a synthesis of science, art and spirituality. Its facade, decorated with a complex geometric mosaic of glazed bricks, demonstrates the transition from traditional Islamic decor to new horizons: the patterns here do not repeat the ornaments of the Middle East, but create a unique Timurid language, where each triangle and star is a reference to the cosmos studied by Ulugbek himself.
**The proportions** of the building amaze with mathematical precision. The central ivan (arched room), almost 12 meters high, seems to stretch the gaze skyward, reminding of the desire for knowledge. The dome above the training hall seems to hover, although its weight is hundreds of tons. This is achieved thanks to the masterful load distribution through massive pylons, which, in turn, are decorated with calligraphic inscriptions with astronomical works by Al-Farabi.
Of particular interest is the ** courtyard**, lined with gray granite. Unlike the madrasas of Bukhara, where the emphasis is on brightness, here there is asceticism and rigor, emphasizing concentration on science. In the corner there are the remains of a ** water channel**, symbolizing not only hygiene, but also the cleansing of the mind before classes.
But the true genius is in the ** building plan**. Four ivans facing the central courtyard create a perfect square, inscribed in a square — an allusion to the harmony of the universe. Each wing housed cells for students, and in the northeast corner was a library where works on astronomy, mathematics, and philosophy were kept.
Today, walking through these halls, you can feel the vibrations of energy: theorems and discoveries that changed the world map were once born here. Ulugbek didn't just build a madrasah — he created a time machine where every stone whispers about the greatness of the human mind.
For connoisseurs: pay attention to the **inscriptions in the arches** — they are executed in a Kufic graphic with Babylonian influences, rare for the East. And if you come at noon, the sunlight piercing the dome projects a shadow on the floor, which exactly coincides with the central axis of the building. This is not an accident, but a deliberate astroarchitectural effect.
**Verdict**: Ulugbek Madrasah is not just a historical monument, but a point of singularity between science and art. It stands on a par with the Cordoba Mosque and the Oljeytu Mausoleum, but it has a unique soul — the soul of an educator, whose name is forever associated with the calendar of stars.

Samarkand itself is a beautiful city with a deep history. It's interesting to walk around it, but it's better with a guide or a knowledgeable person, because everything is in the details. Ulugbek is an educator of Islam, researcher and scientist, creator of madrasah schools to promote education to the general population. They were in great demand and not everyone had the opportunity to study at a madrasa. I recommend it for a mandatory visit, because the indescribable spiritual atmosphere and inner sense of history in such places will definitely not leave anyone indifferent.

Ulugbek Madrasah is one of the most famous sights of Samarkand, located on Registan Square. Built at the beginning of the XV century by order of the great astronomer and ruler Ulugbek, it is an outstanding example of Timurid architecture. This madrasah served as a center of education, where future scientists, astronomers, mathematicians and philosophers studied. Being an outstanding scientist of his time, Ulugbek founded the famous astronomical school here, which became one of the most advanced in the world at that time.
The architecture of the Ulugbek madrasah is admired for its grandeur and elegance. Elegant ornaments, powerful columns and arches, as well as extensive courtyards and facades make this place a real work of art. Especially impressive are the colored tiles and mosaic patterns that create a picturesque view against the bright sky of Samarkand.

The oldest and most famous of the three madrasahs bordering Registan Square in Samarkand.
It was built by the grandson of Amir Timur Ulugbek, who, as is known, was not only a wise ruler, but also a great scientist.
It seems that six centuries ago, all the advanced achievements of architecture, crafts and culture of that time were used in the construction and decoration of this majestic, harmonious and simply beautiful complex.
It is striking that this is not a ruler's palace or a building for performing any administrative functions. This is a place where people studied various sciences. Ulugbek himself taught and studied.
By the way, the layout of the madrasah is somewhat similar to European universities of the Middle Ages - large halls, a cozy courtyard, shaded galleries, student cells.
It is interesting to join the tour to understand and learn more.

Visiting the Ulugbek Madrasah in Samarkand, it was as if I had entered a fabulous past full of splendor and grandeur. This architectural masterpiece, built more than five centuries ago, impresses with its beauty and grandeur. There is a special atmosphere of peace and tranquility inside the madrasah, as if time stops here.
Stunning mosaics, exquisite patterns and frescoes on the walls, arches and domes create a unique architectural harmony. Walking through the courtyard, I felt like a student of the great scientist Ulugbek, who taught his knowledge and wisdom here.
This place has a special energy and wisdom that makes you think about the greatness of the human spirit and possibilities. I left here with a feeling of admiration and inspiration, and I am sure that I will return here more than once. Ulugbek Madrasah is a real cultural and historical treasure that everyone should see.

Historical and cultural heritage. Everything is clean, neat and civil. There are a lot of souvenir shops, there are even rooms where you can see how jewelry is made by hand. Of the disadvantages, you can take the uninformativeness of the signs and pointers. If you want to learn more about the exhibit, either use the Internet or hire a guide. The presentation for Independence Day was also disappointing, one thing was indicated in the program, but in fact...

Ulugbek Madrasah is a real pearl of Samarkand's architectural heritage. This is an incredibly beautiful monument of the Timurid era, built by the great ruler and scientist Ulugbek in the 15th century. The majestic portals, lined with bright blue glazed tiles, amaze with their monumentality and elegance. Inside the madrasah, the luxurious design of the classrooms, framed by carved wooden columns and domed vaults, attracts the eye.
Walking through this historical place, you can't help but imagine the atmosphere of the educational process of those times when many students from all over the East studied here. Today, the Ulugbek Madrasah is an important monument of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, which is worth visiting for anyone interested in the history and architecture of Central Asia.
