Valmstedska Gorden is a complex of buildings in a city estate owned by Lars Peter Valmstedt, Professor of mineralogy and geology at Uppsala University. The construction was started shortly before 1855 and completed around 1860 by his son, also a professor. The estate contains the main building with living quarters, in the courtyard of which there were outbuildings - barns, cellar, carriage house, woodsheds, pigsty, stable. Downriver, among other things, there was a brewery and bakery, as well as a laboratory and a mineral cabinet of the professor. All these buildings have been preserved, which is quite surprising, although their purpose, of course, has changed. The walls of the main building are lined with so-called Uppsala panels, an architectural detail that is found only in Uppsala. The main building now houses a museum with the residence of a professor from the end of the 19th century (it opens irregularly, only for organized excursions) and representative offices of the Uppsala commune. There are workshops, cafes and shops in the former outbuildings.
