This magnificent mosque is one of the oldest architectural monuments of Bukhara. The history of the mosque began in the 12th century, acquired its current form in the middle of the 16th century, and was born as a result of excavations at the beginning of the 20th century. The mosque was actually dug out of the ground (the foundation of the mosque is almost 5 meters below ground level). Since 1991, a Carpet Museum has been located in the mosque building, the entrance fee is 20,000 UZS.

The Magoki Attari Mosque is the oldest building in the historical center of Bukhara. This is a column-domed mosque of the XII–XVI centuries, which is located more than 4.5 meters below ground level. It is interesting to consider the exterior walls.
