Date of construction 1792 Reconstruction has already been carried out. Located in the cemetery, at the very top of the hill. There is a great view of the castle on the opposite side of Rujan. The construction of the chapel was financed by the owner of the Ruzhansky estate, Alexander Sapega. The project was carried out by Saxon architect Jan Samuel Becker. The construction is associated with the relics of St. Casimir, which have been kept in the Ruzhansky possessions of Sapieh since the middle of the 17th century. Initially, the chapel was part of the complex of the Basilian monastery.

An interesting place, it has a strong energy, it is interesting that the Church looks quite well-groomed among the graves. We stopped by on the way, as I was interested in my location.

If you plan your route through Ruzhany, then after the Sapieha Palace complex, I advise you to stop here. The place is very unusual, the church or chapel (correctly both) is located in the center of the old cemetery. It will not be possible to get inside, the building is in disrepair. It is known that this temple was erected in 1792 by order of the Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Alexander Sapieha, who was then the owner of the Ruzhany estate. An interesting fact is that the architect Jan Samuel Becker from Saxony, which at that time was part of the Holy Roman Empire, was invited to build the temple. Historical archives say that, perhaps, the church got its name due to the fact that the relics of St. Casimir have long been located on the lands of the Sapieha family. Despite the fact that the building we are interested in was originally built as a church, at the moment it has the status of a chapel, therefore in some sources it is called the chapel of St. Casimir. But this did not affect the architecture in any way. This structure, made in the style of early classicism, is a rectangular stone building, which is typical for buildings of that time, has a gable roof, high rectangular windows. The central entrance is decorated with a colonnade of four elements. There is also a stone altar inside. The territory of the cemetery is surrounded by a low fence, made already in our time, but the entrance has remained unchanged. These are two massive stone pillars that resemble rectangular castle towers in shape. Like many other architectural monuments in Ruzhany, the Church of St. Casimir spared no time. But at the same time, despite the armed clashes with the Swedes, the Russian-Polish and two world wars, he remained standing. At the moment, this building requires complete reconstruction, as it is in disrepair.
