Islak burger is a real find for lovers of unusual street food! The name translates as "wet burger", and this is completely true. Juicy minced beef patty, seasoned with garlic, paprika and parsley, served between soft rolls soaked in hot tomato sauce. All this is steamed, which gives the dish a special juiciness. The most interesting thing is that the burger turns out to be incredibly flavorful and savory. Despite the fact that it is quite messy, the taste is simply amazing! Locals love this dish, and tourists often take it after night walks. I especially recommend trying it with ayran, a traditional Turkish yogurt—based drink. It refreshes perfectly and helps to cope with the sharpness. Islak Burger is not just a meal, but a real gastronomic adventure that everyone who comes to Istanbul should try!

Very tasty donuts: both chicken and meat. Pide - it turned out to be like a meat pie, it's not pita. A wet burger is a burger that is cooked in an oven, steamed, similar to a white one. Delicious and nutritious! There are a lot of locals in the cafe, Kizilkayalar can be trusted! Everything in Turkish is true!

On the bustling Istiklal Street, in the heart of Istanbul, where history is intertwined with modernity, and the aromas of spices and coffee are in the air, there is a real gastronomic phenomenon – Islak Burger, or "wet burger". We tried it for the first time in 2022! This is not just street food, but an iconic dish that has become an integral part of Istanbul's culinary culture. What is Islak Burger? Islak Burger is, in fact, the Turkish version of the burger, but with significant differences. Its main feature is the sauce, which is abundantly poured over the bun. This sauce is usually prepared on the basis of tomato paste, garlic, spices (cumin, paprika, oregano are often used) and a small amount of olive oil. The bun, which is usually made from soft bread, becomes moist, soft and very fragrant under the influence of this sauce, hence the name "wet". Inside the burger: Cutlet: This is usually a juicy beef patty cooked on the grill. Filling: in addition to the cutlet, pickles, some onions, and cheese can be added to the burger. However, the main star is, of course, the sauce. Islak Burger is especially popular among Istanbul residents after midnight, when the city streets become quieter and the desire to refresh oneself after a long day or a party becomes stronger.

We tried the famous "wet" burgers here. We took a cheeseburger and a luxburger, we gave 160 lire for 2 pieces. I liked the cheeseburger more, take it or a simple burger. The taste is unusual, but wild delight did not happen. But it's definitely worth trying and making your own conclusion, this is a classic of Istanbul. If anything, it is almost impossible to sit down, it is better to take it with you. They do it quickly.

The main feature of this restaurant is a wet burger known as islak. A specific, though quite tasty sandwich: slightly insular, soft, creating a feeling of steaming. If you are hungry, take two or three at once, as they are small. There are a lot of people, but they serve everyone quickly.

It's a very popular place. Delicious burgers. This is our second time in Istanbul and we always come here. A delicious cheese burger for 110 rubles is March 2025. 2 burgers and freshly squeezed orange juice. That's right. We always have a snack in the park across the street.

No, I'm not ashamed to recommend mainstream places!)) Yes, wet burgers are top! For some, it's about a snack or a one-time meal, but for me it's about tradition. I have a gastronomic ritual. Once in Istanbul, the first thing I do is go to Taksim. Every Turkish adventure of mine starts from this square. Therefore, as on my first visit, I always go for a chuck cheeseburger. Well, I rate the 5th race more for my emotions than for the institution itself. About burgers: There's nothing special about them. They do not differ in super taste. But cool)) In my opinion, it is much better than the classic "sesame buns". And, definitely, worthy of being tried. About "non-burgers": I saw in the comments that they were writing about dry shawarma. That's it)) Make no mistake about Turkish food, it's not full of flavors. Most dishes don't have enough sauce. But in the cafe (and this place is no exception), there are cans of various additives on the tables. And locals usually wash everything down with ayran or tea. Therefore, the logic is: "why add sour cream to the dish if I wash it down with ayran?". Well, the fact that Turkey should have delicious shawarma is just a stereotype)) The Doner here is not at all what we imagine)) and it certainly differs greatly from the Russian "adapted" variations. About the service: Noisy, annoying barkers on the street. A chaotic queue, Every second guy in an apron thrusts you a menu and is ready to accept payment (preferably without change). It 's annoying . but! If you don't crowd the street and go inside, it will be much easier to choose and pay for food)) About the price: It is constantly growing. According to my observations, by 20-25% every year. And the toad is already strangling me a little)) The price is low, but watching street food rise in price from 50₽ to 300₽ is such a thing)) In short, hurry up to try it before the price exceeds the psychological threshold))

You can take food with you (including soup). Delicious lemonade, cool wet burgers. I expected it to be worse according to the reviews (ordinary street food with average food), but when reality exceeds expectations, it's great

The most popular shawarma) there are always a lot of people. It is definitely recommended to visit, but don't expect much. Shavukha is always dry, there is an acute shortage of sauces and I would like the meat to be juicier on its own. But this is a feature of local doners (it's like that everywhere)

It's a very popular place, there's always a queue. Here you can try a wet burger. It's interesting for once. There are also durums with different meats, which is good, but the meat is a little dry. In general, as a one-time trial, you can try

Great burgers. They are very simple, but they are very tasty. They took 2 pieces per face, but then ran for another one for each. This cannot be explained in words. We must try

They came purposefully for "wet burgers", the cost rose to 70 lira on 02/27/2023. We really liked it, the burger tastes like climbing :) we tried it in a nearby place and there it is different, thicker than a cutlet and tastes like a typical burger. We came for dinner for 3 days in a row for this snack)

There are a lot of people.. The touts are pestering. I didn't like the wet burger. If someone thinks there's something fantastic, don't waste your time) You can pour tomato juice on a regular burger and heat it up in a micro, it'll be about the same. Only the usual cutlet tastes better. It's even delicious, period)) The price is 90 liras for June 25.

Well, this... I can't share my excitement about the wet burger. They took a cheeseburger and a suite, they just added olivier inside the suite, which is why it's a suite, but it's cheap 80 lira for one regular burger and 100 for a suite.

Wet burgers are unusual, of course, but not to say that they are very tasty. There is absolutely nothing special about the taste. A small burger with a minimum meat content costs 60 lira (31.01.24). Passing by, you can try, of course, but you definitely shouldn't go here on purpose. You won't lose anything.

I wouldn't go a second time. You can try a wet burger and a doner. But shawarma in Russia is much tastier :) no sauces, dry, ingredients are minimal, prices are high. A regular wet burger, the price is 80 lire.

We came for the wet burgers. They are worth a try. There is a queue at the institution around the clock. Side by side (in one row) There are 5-7 more similar cafes with the same dishes and prices. It is not clear why the queue is in this particular place. We tried burgers in 5 of them, all plus/minus the same.
