It is a popular hangout for expats, and locals who enjoy a “British” pub scene. As well as local beers, there are usually English ales on draught. Comprehensive pub grub menu BUT food quality can be variable. Last week I was there and ordered a Coconut Prawn dish, which I have enjoyed there many time over the years. But this time it was disgusting. A brilliant red coloured sauce which tasted as if it was warmed up ketchup. And my friend had a chicken vindaloo, and also complained that it was bland and the chicken tasted old and reheated. The mgr need to focus on consistency and quality. Otherwise it’s a good place for a pint and a chat.

To drink or not to drink? Definitely a drink! We went to the Shakespeare Pub with friends, and immediately felt like we were somewhere in London - just without the rain and the queen. The interior is just like in the movies: wooden panels, Shakespeare portraits that look at you reproachfully when you order a third beer. The menu is a mix of European and Indian cuisine. As I understand it, Shakespeare would have been shocked by such a combination, but it went great for us! The steak is juicy, the beer is cold — everything is as bequeathed by the Bard. The portions are such that you can overeat and quote a couple of sonnets from excess energy. Football is shown on big screens, there are billiards and darts — in general, the cultural program is provided. The staff speaks English, so you can practice the language or just nod, pretending that you understand. The average check is about 13,000 tenge — it's not a pity for such an atmosphere and quality. Inside the pub, it's warm and cozy, like an English manor. It's a great place to forget that you're in Almaty and pretend to be a gentleman! Rating: 5/5

It's a good place, I visit it often. The cuisine is both European and Indian, to my great surprise, at the same level! Everything is delicious! The service is efficient, the waiters are friendly. The atmosphere is cozy, you can sit quietly with friends or solo. The prices are reasonable for such quality. I will definitely come back more than once.

I visited Pub Shakespeare and was extremely outraged I consider this attitude to the guests unacceptable. We ordered a 50 ml drink, and each time they brought us significantly less. For the first time, my friends and I noticed an underflow, but decided not to pay attention. The second time, the situation was repeated one—on-one, and it already looked like a systematic disrespect for customers. There was a very unpleasant impression, as if they did not consider it necessary to observe the specified volume at all and expected that the guests would not notice anything. For me, it completely ruined the evening and the impression of the place. Personally, I'm not going back to Pub Shakespeare anymore, and I don't recommend it to anyone.

Delicious Indian cuisine and salads, the warm eggplant was magically tender and delicious, the vegetable curry mix was delicious but spicy, and the masala tea was delicious. However, as it is cooked in India, it is spicy, you need to remember and ask to reduce the heat if necessary. The atmosphere is typical for a pub inside, clean and tidy, with dim lighting. It's a pity that the places on the street are occupied in the evening and there are clearly not enough of them ... but the waiters are very good!

After the renovation, it became much more pleasant for those who came here a long time ago. Surprisingly delicious Indian food. They always cooked it well, but last year it was just a top. In some places, the dishes are better prepared than the local Indian "restaurants". Prices are above average. Students and those with salaries below 200 thousand will not come here often. There are many expats who have chosen this place. When there is live music, it is better not to sit in the back of the hall - it is very noisy, although bands sometimes play very cool. Call in advance and find out when they have live music. Assessment - I recommend going here. By the way, "pub" bartenders make cocktails well.
