A stunning monument to the famous Estonian chess player and international grandmaster Paul Keres was erected on January 7, 2016 in the park on Pushkin Street and Peetri Square, on the day of the centenary of Paul Keres with the money of a local philanthropist entrepreneur. The sculptural composition is a figure of Paul Keres sitting on one side of the table, an empty chair is installed on the other side of the table, and a chessboard with pieces is installed on the table. Author. Simson Ivar, an Estonian sculptor. Keres Paul Petrovich was an Estonian and Soviet chess player, one of the strongest chess players in the world from 1930 to 1960, Honored Master of Sports and three-time chess champion of the USSR, 7 times was a member of the Soviet teams that won chess Olympiads. A fragment of a chess game between Paul Keres and Walter Braun is reproduced on the chess table. It was the last tournament in the life of Paul Keres, which was held in Canada in 1975 and the grandmaster won the last game in his life. The creativity of the idea and its implementation in reality amazes and delights. An extremely popular photo and video zone, you can sit on an empty chair, imagine that you are at a prestigious chess tournament and playing a game with Paul Keres.
