The Great Synagogue of Stockholm. It was built in 1867-1870 by architect Fredrik Scholander in the Moorish style. The Great Synagogue belongs to the egalitarian conservative trend of Judaism. This is a liberal trend in Judaism, occupying an intermediate position between Orthodox and reformists, with special attention paid to the equality of men and women. Men and women pray together, in the same room. Since 2015, the chief Rabbi of the Great Synagogue has been a woman. The other two synagogues in Stockholm belong to Orthodox Judaism, where such liberties are not allowed. Very strict security rules are observed in the synagogue (given the current situation in Sweden, there are probably grounds for this). You can't even enter the courtyard, surrounded by a high fence, from the street. Tickets for the visit must be pre-ordered online no later than three days in advance. On the street next to the synagogue there is a sculpture depicting a refugee with a Torah scroll (1986).
