The Kalyan Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Central Asia, with a capacity of almost 12,000 people! When you find yourself here, be sure to go inside: the walls are decorated with golden sayings from the main book of Muslims, the Koran. Also note that the mosque has 7 entrances, and the main entrance is so beautiful! Here you will see Arabic script in the upper part of the ceilings, and the second part is decorated with mosaic tiles.😍 Well, on the main square stands a majestic minaret, from which the muezzin weekly calls the faithful to prayer. By the way, the mosque is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. ☝️

Of course, the mosque is amazing for its size! The "Great Mosque", as it was called after its construction, was erected during the reign of Ubaidullah Khan, Timur's heir, in 1514. 12,000 people could pray here at the same time. Imagine how big the population of Bukhara was then, if there were more than 10 such mosques in the city then! A real metropolis! The mosque has been the main mosque of Bukhara for 500 years. It has a traditional architectural look for Bukhara and Samarkand. The main eastern entrance is a large elevated portal decorated with beautiful mosaics. All facades are decorated with glazed tiles and mosaics. In general, a masterpiece. But only the masterpiece is empty. The vast spaces under the roof were uninhabited at the time of our visit.

Under the dome of the blue sky there is silence, prayer and the breath of eternity. Kalon Mosque, the great soul of Bukhara. The Kalon Mosque is a place where time has stopped. Prayers have been heard under its arches for five centuries... a place where heaven meets prayer. 💙

Kalon Mosque is the main building of the famous Bukhara architectural complex Poi-Kalon. The mosque acquired its current appearance in 1514 under Ubaidullah Khan, the ruler of the Bukhara vilayet. A magnificent architectural, historical and spiritual monument! Of course, one of the main attractions of Bukhara, entrance is paid (5000 UZS).

A beautiful functioning mosque . The entrance fee is 15,000 per adult, children are free. There is a second entrance on the opposite side - people come out, some come in for free :)

It's very beautiful! Especially if this is the first thing you saw in Uzbekistan))) In fact, all madrassas are very similar to each other, but they are certainly fascinating.

The Kalyan Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Bukhara, accessible for a reasonable fee. To the left of the entrance is the symbol of old Bukhara - the Kalyan minaret, and opposite the Miri Arab Madrasah. Delightfully. Atmospheric.

Beautiful unusual minaret. One of the most recognizable symbols of Bukhara. If you come to Bukhara, be sure to go to him, there is a nameless mosque nearby, the entrance is paid. If you don't go inside, you won't lose anything, but you should definitely go to the square next to the mosque and the minaret.

A beautiful mosque. We were accompanied by a guide in the evening. Together with the story about the traditions of Islam and the rules of visiting the mosque, visiting this place turned out to be very informative.

It is a very beautiful place, ancient buildings have found a new life, a tourist center with many small hotels, cozy cafes and craft shops. And all this in a unique historical place with a centuries-old life!

The inexplicable aura of magic, immersion in history, and a sense of presence during the reign of the Khans make you feel the energy of that period. I'll be happy to come back many, many more times.

This is one of the main attractions of the ancient city of Bukhara. The Kalyan Minaret (The Great Minaret was built in 1127 by order of the great Arslan Khan (1102-1130) was the khan of the Bukhara Emirate.

It's an outrage! Pay the entrance fee and look at everything from the outside and find the difference from what it was before and absolutely free. It turns out that non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the mosque! The mosque said only "if you read a book) " then you can, but you just can't. This is the first time I've heard that mosques are not allowed. I've been in Turkey and Russia quietly, but here you pay and watch from the outside.)) There is absolutely nothing to do there. Everything is closed. I regret that I paid. I don't recommend it.

I'll tell you right away why 4 stars weren't such arrogant photographers and gypsies (Luli) before, but the rest is just gorgeous, despite its age, it's still one (if not the first) tallest building in the city

Nicely. Plus the legend of Genghis Khan, who dropped his hat when looking up, bent down to pick it up, and then said that Genghis Khan bent down only here. As a result, he did not demolish the building.
